Some rockers and their act don't actually age that well anyway, but some do. I think Paul McCartney does, but then again his music was never that hard. The Eagles have as well and they don't play real hard rock. But when Roger Daltry takes his shirt of it just isn't quite the same.

I still remember buying the first LZ album in 1969 and playing it day and night. I learned blues harp by playing with that album.

I'm sure they are more than a bit frustrated. But he's said and maintained for years that he really didn't want to do this type of thing. I know they had a brief reunion a few years back, but I don't think he's ever really wanted to do anything of this magnitude.

I never appreciated Led Zepplin, not until I was in my 40's. I didn't mind the hard edge, that was appealing, I just thought they were too much on the drug-addled side, but with a complete dearth of decent music (yes I know I sound like my grandfather) I appreciate bands like Zepplin and the Stones now more then I ever did when they were relevant.

That said Robert Plant isn't the leader of cock-rock anymore, he's a grandfather. Sure Mick can still talk-sing his way through songs and McCartney can lilt his ballads but how is a pensioner supposed to scream during Kashmir?

I understand his stance, it's a no win if it's not extraordinary and a lot of work to get even close to passable. Plus he wasn't dumb with his money from what I've read, so if you can't take it with you...

The bass work of John Paul Jones is incredible when you really listen for it, it's so far behind the scenes but so incredibly important and holds the entire song together...

He had to put up with a lot of crap when they were together. I really enjoyed a lot of his solo stuff. The thing was not many had faith that he could do it alone.

Very true. But instead Dino became one of the biggest stars of music, movies, & TV, all at the same time. Not too shabby for a kid from Steubenville, Ohio.

Millions of fans would love the chance to see Zeppelin one time.
They are my favorite band of all time next to the beatles I would give anything to see them one time (at the time of O2 arena show I was a student and could not afford the 15k for a ticket). Plant only cares about himself and not the millions of fans that his music has touched. After many many decades it would be nice to show some appreciation to the fans who allow him to do his usually mundane solo acts and actually draw a crowd

From the article it sounded like Branson was doing the whole thing as a cheap tie in to promote his space travel venture, which is currently trying to recover from a test crash. Naming the stairs to the plane "Stairway to Heaven"? Who names a set of stairs, LOL!? Oh, and BTW Richard, "Starship" is the name of a different band from the 70's.

I am a bit surprised though. I mean it's not like Plant is retired. And he's toured with Page not all that many years ago. Probably none of them need the money though I'd imagine it would have come in handy for Jason. Doing 35 dates for that kind of money would be a real nice gesture to Jason. Perhaps Plant is not confident he could pull it off in the way they used to perform. I'm not sure he can hit all the notes he used to hit.

There was speculation in another thread recently that Steve Perry may be getting back with Journey. If that's the case maybe Branson could hire Arnel Pineda to take Plant's place.
