Spending my inheritance

Since I have no kids except my wife's greedy kids.....Im going to start spending it....my mothers investments ..... since I cant take it with me and her kids get it all when we are gone.....I was going to buy a plain Jane Blue faced DJ with domed bezel and oyster bracelet for everyday watch but Ive been looking at a IWC ingenieur for about 300 bucks less. Since I would never sell either resale value does not concern me. What would you get?

I'm a sucker for the DJ with blue dial, Greg.

As for the money, why not set up a charitable foundation that will provide money for you as long as you need it, while keeping it out of unwanted hands later?

Ask the greedy kids as they will get the watch instead of the cash. Kind of a catch 22, sorry!

Im a sucker for it too....my wife likes the IWC better ....Like I told her the 36mm DJ is better because all her girls could wear it. The 40mm would be to large on them,
Thats what I should do but I promised my wife I would leave it all to them and of course she went and told them....Im sure all four dream of new cars and paid off house's.....Like I told one what if I live to 90? In reality im in such bad shape now I will be lucky to make 65.

Right choice Greg!

I think I would get the Ingenieur. Although I'm not sure what size it is these days...

You never know... My wife's father lived into his mid 90's and he suffered thru many, many ailments from age 30 on. Many different battles with cancer. Asbestos poisoning, survived a house fire which burned over 40 percent of his body. I recall almost thirty Christmas meals, him telling us it was probably the last Christmas we would all be together with him.
It ain't over until it's over.
and enjoy your inheritance.

This reminds me of what my mom tells me.

How about investing a lil into your own health and wellness? Then you can enjoy the DJ longer.

I really like the IWC & have looked at it several times. In a perfect world this would have come in a gorgeous blue dial. I love the blue of the DJ, its mesmerizing. And..really, its so hard to find the right shade of blue. That being said, I like the ruggedness of the IWC better.

Hi Lisa!!

Please don't take this the wrong way - but I think inheritances are bad luck, especially if you use them for things other than absolute necessities. I know that sounds crass and strange, but my father inherited a fortune from my grandparents, and it was nothing but bad luck --- completely cursed. My father, who had a handful of successful businesses, died with absolutely nothing! There were losses between the time he inherited to his death that were unreal, including the death of my step-mother. And anything that anyone received from my grandparent's passing, be it a watch, furniture, whatever, was either stolen, or lost in some very emotional, and haunting way. I told my mother, who divorced my father when I was 4, when she goes, she might as well give what ever she has planned, to someone else. Because I will never touch an inheritance. Ever. But I'd get the blue dial DJ - for sure. ;-)

Blue faced DJ with domed bezel and oyster bracelet sounds good to me!

IMHO: Family Trust's are a great way to go. Your inheritance is a gift left or granted to you. Therefore, it is a positive gesture of someone's admiration or love for you. Help yourself, help others in need and stay grounded. Can't wait to see you new watch!

We came into some inheritance money a few years ago. One thing we wanted to do was to add a wheelchair lift on the back of the house for my wife.. We enclosed that with a deck and screened-in porch. We absolutely love it back there.. We back up to the Passaic river and the woods so it was a great way to spend it... Plus my wife can get in and out of the house easily. Whenever we sit out there on a spring/summer/fall evening listening to some jazz and sipping a glass of wine we say "yep, it was worth spending it on this".

That's a great combo. I like that Ing! I'll have to try to see one of those in the flesh.

If the girls are all looking at paying off houses and buying cars then I think a 458 or a 911 may be more in line!! I am sure someone on TRF has a dealer that they can get you in contact with.

Enjoy your money while you can. Especially if your health is failing.

I can't remember what watches you already have Greg, but if you have a couple of Rolex, it might be nice to go with something different.
The "spend the inheritance" issue is a tricky one as you have to live amicably with everyone in the meantime, but I sure as hell would make sure I wanted for nothing in terms of medical support & treatment, and a new watch a year and new car (something I really fancied) would be a given. Good luck.

Yeah, but what a two.
I love that particular model DJ and everybody loves a Pepsi.
Get the IWC just for something different. I like IWC almost as much as Rolex and I'm sure there is a Spitfire with my name on it sometime in the future.
