Happy Birthday to "The King".
Even those movies and tired covers of other peoples songs couldn't erase the memory of the huge talent and presence that was the young Elvis.

Based purely on information in the Wiki article, Elvis was a well established music star before Michael Jackson was born and received the title "King of Rock & Roll" (probably from a journalist) whilst still in his 20s.
At a much later time, MJ became was known as "The King of Pop". I would think that most music lovers would recognise the title "The King" as applying to Elvis rather than to MJ, purely because it was applied earlier and used consistently over a very long period. The Wiki article records that when referred to as "The King of R&R", Elvis retorted that it was Fats Domino who deserved that title.
