I would and have lent my watches to family and close friends. I trust these people with my life, what's a watch? I've never had a problem with anyone treating it poorly and suspect many of us wouldn't. Also as some other members have noted, what good is it to have this passion if you are not able to share it with the people that mean the most to you!

Um, it's a watch.

If I had an adult kid, sure why not?

My wife, how could I even say no? We share our life, why not watches?

My mother, how could I say no?

A good friend, say any one of my best men at my wedding? Absolutely.

Would I lend it to a drug addict? No. A very irresponsible "friend", no.

I would lend my SS Rolex to my family and close friend without hesitation. The WG would probably be just reserved for my wife and close family.

In fact I keep offering to remove some links from my Smurf so my wife can wear it but she doesn't want the responsibility. I keep telling her not to worry about and just enjoy it but she says she is happy with her YM.

I would lend my Sub or my BBR any day to my son, my wife (even though she doesn't like to wear any expensive watch) and my brother that have two.

Wearing someone's watch is like wearing someone's ring, bracelet or necklace.. It's something I wouldn't even think that someone else would want to do? I don't get it.

great thread! I've never been asked to lend my watches to anyone, but I have taken them off and let somebody I know try them on or closely examine it. that being said I am in the process of buying my first rolexes and would probably not be too keen on lending them to strangers.

...my son and daughter have been driving my bimmers since they have been 16. My daughter prefers her Suburu...my son gets a ticket every time he drives my cars. My daughter does not wear watches. I have an extensive collection of watches...I would like my son to wear my SD, he prefers the Prometheus...go figure...

My wife asks to wear my little Air King Date regularly. However, the way she takes care of her Datejust, no way!

To avoid this... I have either upgraded the one they already had or for the ones who didn't already have one, bought every immediate family member a Rolex of their own... made pockets ALOT Lighter... BUT also made my shoulders EVEN lighter than that...

I have let friends wear my watches...As long as they were fitted properly, what harm could they do?

Nobody, no way. I worked too hard for my Rolex and wouldn't be able to sleep at night if someone put a deep gouge in it that wasn't my own fault.

Any family or close friends. It's just a watch. Of course klepto cousin mike wouldn't be allowed.

Good standing friend no worries.

My wife has no interest in them but when my kids are older I will let them each pick one to have or borrow.

It's just a watch.
Your loved ones are going to get it someday, so you may as well teach em how to use it and let them pick out their favorite of your collection :)

I would let my wife, my mother and my father wear my watches if they wanted. When my son is old enough, I'll get a feel for his personality and make the call then, after all, my son will get my watches anyway.

I'm sure it's been said but my wrist is way bigger than my wife's. She'd be banging it I to everything within 10 feet. So no, she can't wear it... But if she wants to wear a Rolex I'm more than happy to buy her one and have it fit perfectly and safely.
