I want to start my quest for my first pam with the movement. What are the pros and cons of ETA vs IN HOUSE? Any suggestions or opinions will be appreciated.. Thanks in advance! ⌚️⌚️

ETA can be worked on by pretty much anyone and you don't have to worry about PSC reputation.

I started with a 177. Titanium with ETA. Decided on titanium first as it weighed less than the SS versions but got me used to a 44mm case. Before long I had a 45mm Radiomir and haven't looked back.

ETA is solid, proven and cheaper to service. Of course it isn't "in-house", if that sort of thing is important to you. For Panerai some of the best models are ETA, but there are some excellent in-house options, too, so I would first find the models I like and then consider the movement.

But, don't be scared off by a few reports of shoddy Panerai service center service - all brands have issues and if one only listened to a couple of unfortunate Internet stories, one would never use any manufacture service centers (well, maybe still Patek, even while waiting several months).

Eta is a sound movement I'd go with 000,111,112,005

ETA movements are real work horses. Very steady. In house represent the way forward. I have been thru a dozen Panerai in the last 5 years. I know have a 005 and a 372. Really love both.

Thanks everybody for all the great inputs and pics posted. On to the chase for my first PAM ⌚️⌚️. All the different models with very subtle differences is driving me nuts. Makes the chase very exciting.. Will post again if or when i narrow down my choices ..or maybe if it is incoming already ��

I love my 510 with in-house movement. I do not love that it can only be serviced by panerai nor do they sell parts to indie watchmakers. A full service will cost something like $600. The in-house pieces are likely to command a premium in the longggg run on the secondary market, but I will admit that the movement itself is very dull and boring, and cannot say it keeps time better than an ETA.

I love love LOVE brands like Tudor that execute ETA watches nicely, but not panerai... if I were adding to my collection I'd rather buy a tudor black bay & an omega for the price of a ETA Panerai.

I really agree with this initial list. If you want to go outside of the base models like this you can look at the 312 because it really has a ton of stuff for the price.

Of course you run into the in-house movement which is not easily worked on compared to the ETA of the previous models.

Don't take too long scratching that Panerai itch... You might end up buying both...
