Not to confuse the issue but given the wording of your original post I'm assuming you're young (college student?) and likely to be more on the active side over the next few years. Have you considered an explorer II? Older references are wonderful but I'd think that some of the ruggedness (yes I know all Rolex references are sturdy) that's built into the Exp II may come in handy over the next few years?

The final 3: Choosing my first Rolex

Pepsi is a great watch, but I don't think The color scheme lends well with certain outfits, particularly those that are earth toned. It depends on how you will wear this watch most of the time.... If you answer that question the decision will be clear.

I believe Sub is almost a requisite first Rolex, plus can't go wrong with value of them :)

No winner or loser here. Love all; I do like the looks of the Sub without a date but that's for me.

1. Pepsi
2. DJ

Definite Pepsi over the Sub. If you want that all black look (on occassion) you can source a black bezel insert for the 16710 for like $100 and switch it out whenever you please.

That gunmetal DJ is absolutely amazing by the way! I'd almost be inclined to say get that first while you can (I assume it will continue to get more difficult to find a nice example) but the GMT is such a perfect, versatile everyday watch. Get the Pepsi, save for the DJ.

Good luck

I would go with the Pepsi. It has to be one of the most versatile and eye catching watches on the planet. Not crazy about the 16610, so the ceramic version would be a perfect addition to complement your pepsi for your number two...and yes there will be a number two.

Dis-claimer.....I'm biased, love my DJ.

The DJ will get you thru school just fine, Rolitis is a chronic condition, you will have plenty of time to further address the symptoms.

If the sameness bothers you that much about the Sub, get the Pepsi. Both are great!
