GMT II Price Check...

Did the GMT ll get a price hike after the last price of $5075? Looking to get a "M" Pepsi and my AD said the new price was $5,750? Thanks all.

Good question! Since it's neither in the catalogue nor made anymore, I wonder where he got that price? Maybe some of the recent GMT II 16710 owners can tell you what they paid.

16710 = $5750.00 USD
Page 24 of the Rolex Price List posted on TRF "Rolex General Discussion"

TempoKing posted it on March 7, 2008, but the link, apparently, doesn't work any more.

Depends on the dealer. Mine has (had) a couple at the old prices even after the increase.

Don't you just love Rolex, they get rid of old stock by raising the price.

Check the list again SPACE DWELLER. I clicked your link and found the 16710 at the end of the GMT Master II models. I also saw an actual scanned March 2008 Rolex catalog somewhere on the Net, and the 16710 was the last watch in the GMT Master II section as well. The new price is $5750. I wonder how long it will be around. I was hoping that it would be built concurently with the new GMT IIC models as the original GMT Master was after the GMT Master II was released.

The day will soon be here when all Rolexes except the Air King are over $10,000! I remember when it was like that for the $1,000 mark!

Fill me in: How come you exclude Air King? Is the A.K. the runt of the litter?

I know nothing about the Air King, except that I think my brother bought a couple to give to his children, if they wind up in college instead of jail.

(Makes sense. You don't need a watch in jail, do you?)

The Air Kings are lower priced than the Subs, GMTs, SD and DD models. Something has to be on the "bottom" price-wise. Sort of like when you shop for gas you look at the lowest price as an economic indicator.

The new price on the 16710 is indeed 5750 USD. I saw this for myself in the updated catalog at an AD shortly after the March price increase. Yes, everyone knows they've been discontinued, but this doesn't mean that the GMT II is immune to a price increase as long as there are still some BNIB available at ADs.

Yes, the GMT II is now $5750. I saw the watch in Carmel, CA in late May. The clerk asked me when I got mine, and if it was before the price increase. I told her that I missed the increase by a few weeks, but I paid less than MSRP. She smiled and said "good fortune."

Peter:

Please keep us informed about UK stock on the GMT II (not the GMT IIc). This "limited supply" situation may be temporary, i.e., Rolex may be releasing more shipments to ADs in the coming weeks.

Thanks & Best,

Mark
