Just how curious how many Comex issued Subs/SDs are in circulation,

My best guess (and prob not a good one at that is in the neighborhood of 400-500 but Marcello Pisani will probably know best or Mike Wood, Jedly1, etc.

I think "circulation" would need better definition, for you could mean :

How many were made ? How many survive in original configuration of each type ? How many genuine ones are available at any given time on the market ? How many have crossed the path of those who follow them in the last decade ? Do you include the ones in private collections like my own ?

For what it is worth, I think you will find the total number is significantly higher than stated above, but the fun comes in trying to identify the numbers / specifics / variations of each type and then finding / acquiring what you want. Values vary tremendously from the rarest and best to the more common or less close to perfect examples.

Interesting topic, but a brief answer would always be an incomplete answer.

Seriously on the question - there are a few models 5513, 5514, 1665, 1680, 16610, 16660 in circulation for cx. I leave it to the experts for the numbers but i do know a few hundreds was issued for 1665 CX - pardon my ltd info

Just rough numbers really ,I was only curious 500 or 5000 ? ,

grand total ( all deliveries from 1972 to 1997 ) is in range of 2000 watches ;
a) 1665 : around 300
b) 5513 and 5514 : around 750
c) 16800/168000/16610 : around 500
d) 16660 and 16600 : around 400
e) 1680 : around 60
f) " no holes " 16610 and 16600 ( 2000s deliveries ) : a few dozens .

some production comparisons :
1) 6542 ( estimated ) = around 2000 in steel and 500 in gold ;
2) 6240 = ( 100 % certain number ) around 1700
3) 6239 ( steel only ) = around 15.000 ( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) ( also this is a certain number ).

Early 1665 every time, with 600m dial...but you'll need deeper pockets than for the 16600 !

Comex watches produced up to 1997 ( tritium dials , lugs with holes and so on )
and moreover most 2000's Comex watches have never seen water...
