Yes but just once, and never came back to answer follow-up inquiries
If I was the seller, I'd be doing all I could to reassure my potential buying audience (and this would be a d$*m good forum by which to do so)...would only serve to drive up interest in the watch.

I also found several others with the standard "Mercedes" hands set... Looks like either style is legit ??

In the case of military issue Submariners from the period, finding examples with certain features now does not necessarily make those features original.
1970s mil subs were supplied new from Rolex with sword hands, period. Anyone who has seen my collection of mil subs will know that it would suit me very much if those with Mercedes hands could be thought possibly correct, but I know that it is not the case. For my money there is one configuration of sword hands, too, though I accept that there is a possibility a second version may be correct. With kind regards, Haywood Milton

a second version may be correct.
With kind regards, Haywood Milton[/QUOTE] And to be clear to those less versed in the subject , the second hand and therefore set on the watch on eBay isn't that !! |

tell you after I've inspected it in geneva on saturday, though in general mils and comex usually to do less at auction than at private sale, and some buyers still don't like the fact their numbers and issue numbers have been shown publicly all over the world.

Regarding the Phillips mil sub, it looks like it could be a good one, rough from the wild but that's okay with me. As for this :
"....it even retains its original NATO strap, making it one of the most exciting MilSubs to appear on the market in years" I would have to disagree. I do not believe that example to be an original NATO strap fitted on the watch from the 1970s and, furthermore, the mil subs were correctly issued on a narrower width NATO which, to our modern eyes, would appear slimmer than could be expected for the lug-width. Hope it does well, for obvious reasons :-) Haywood Milton

"Reserve not met" . . . sometimes means that what bidding there was may not have been as straightforward as first it seemed, especially if one has reason to think ill of the seller.
Been a bad smell around this one. H

I live 30kms or 18 miles from the seller. I requested a prior inspection of this watch before submitting my bid.
The seller's reply to my request was "You can make your offer base of description and if you are final winner, you can verify it at time of pick up to make sure description is correct. " . I can verify it after the paying the seller; not going to happen. |

How odd. The seller, who joined this forum and posted on the thread about his watch, is shown under his profile details to have been back on the forum only two days ago.
A reasonable person might think that a reasonable seller with nothing to hide might have answered the legitimate questions raised here. If any possible purchaser in future googles Rolex 5513 3826500, let us hope that they find this thread and can make their own mind up about the seller. HM

Looks like this seller either has issues with the truth or knows little about what he's selling.
Here's a 1675 he's listed as all original but it clearly has a service dial and hands. From what I've read, a 1963 GMT should have gilt dial and small GMT hand. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Role...wAAOSw7FRWX3Db

So, those gilt dials you see out there are obvious fakes. |
