Just bought a 2012 X5 diesel and what a machine. For it's size it pulls pretty damn good, but not a performance machine like the X5M however it doesn't drive like a truck, it feels like a car which is pretty incredible.
I bought it for family trips so the diesel payed huge dividends in gas mileage(29-30mpg) and we just drove it to California and and back to Texas and it was a dream on the road. 90 mph felt like 40 and pulling past big rigs and idiots on the road ways was a breeze.

Between the SRT and X5M I'd choose the BMW every time without one hesitation, it really is on another level.
Consider the X6M also, that thing is a beast as well with sedan like lap times around the 'ring and 0-60, plus I think it looks much better of the two.

Braman is the worst... You're right, too much money down here and absolutely no sense!

As an M owner, I'd go with the Jeep just based on the MSRP differential.

At the end of it all, I got a "family" discount on the M. It was a screaming deal.

I still passed it up. While admittedly a superior vehicle, the SRT feels more a part of me. I even looked at the AMG. The M and the AMG are awesome trucks to be sure. Something to aspire to. And maybe own someday.

But in the end, the SRT spoke loud and clear. It just "fits" me. A bit of a brute, even if somewhat small. More effort, than finesse, work ethic over everything else, and a balls to the wall banger that makes no excuses.

Well, it is now being shipped to the body shop.

I was driving and a woman did not look in her blind spot. She pulled right over and destroyed the driver-side of my brandy new SRT. .

She admitted this to the cop and they gave her a ticket for unsafe lane change.

But that does not change the fact that the value of the car just plummeted and I don't get to drive it for at least a few weeks.

Oh wow, that is terrible. I had that happen to a friend of mine, except his wife backed into a chain link fence and scratched the hell out of her X5. Now mind you, it had both parking sensors and a back-up camera, so I have no idea how it happened.

Ha. That sounds bad. Can't imagine your buddy was too happy.

I'm not pleased, but for the most part I'm not too pissed. I was at the moment, but I'm relatively calm now. But I do miss it already. That's for sure.

Ouch - sorry to hear. Hope the repair is done well, and quickly.
Nobody hurt is the important thing, of course.

Hey Seth, that sucks! I'd be so bummed. You're ok, though, and that's what matters most!

If it makes you feel any better, some years ago, my dad's friend bought a brand new Viper. The first day he had it, somebody crashed into him and it was totaled. He was so sad, he bought a sedan and gave up on owning a sports car.

I'm sorry this happened to your brand new car.

Welcome to the mopar family and make sure you receive compensation from the ladies insurance for diminished value. When you go to trade it in they will get you on the car fax and take thousands off. Make sure you get this money now just to break even.

+1 I would look into a diminished value claim. Might be a pain in the ass but worth it. Particularly considering your history of trading

Sorry I didn't read all comments to get up to speed but there is nothing like the x5m.
This thing is unbelievable. It's performamce is on par with most sports cars.
Not only is it a 4 sec o-60 it's a monster on the race track.
That and the x6M

Hands down the SRT, but I am bias.
Proud owner of 2014 Jeep SRT.
It makes me happy every time I get behind the wheel.
Kind of like every time I look at my wrist and see my new Rolex
I just bought my first Rolex last week. Sub C Date.

Already on the hunt for my next Rolex. The BLNR is calling my name.

You mean X5M
