Icon10 Rolex Paintings

Hey there,

I am 21 years old student of art and also a big watch lover. Till last week, I haven't thought of putting these two together. This is therefore my very first picture of a watch (and of course, it must be a Rolex :D). I would like to know your opinion whether It is worth sticking to watch art...

Sub no date, plain background, acrylic painting, 30x40cm...

What do you think? Do you like it?

looks good, gotta work on the font and crown guards a bit but I see quite a bit of potential, and maybe add some other flair to make it yours, maybe partial watch, partial scenery or something, or like someone said play with the colors, or just start designing fantasy watches. or just follow a creative art style you already have, clearly you have the skills to paint what's on your mind.

Nice work, though Rolex would take issue if you started selling prints.

I think you could actually paint some TRF memebers watches and make a decent living off selling them on here!

Nice, though I do find the look of the ends of the bracelet quite disconcerting!

Yeah, but as this is only my first work, I wanted to try how accurately I can paint the actual watch. Later on, I would like to play with backgrounds and angles... I have no plans for much of an abstraction, but who knows

That's true, but as I have no plan to sell print but ONLY few original paintings, can it be still of an issue with copyrights?

Yeah, it is quite easy doing it in Photoshop and Illustrator, but it would be hell to paint a single watch several 4-6 times just for the sake of colours... This series however looks quite good :)

Yes it will be deemed a copyright issue with RUSA if sold!

No sales of such items will be facilitated on this forum either...

How about a GMT TTc.

Assisted by mum, my daughter sneaked a pix of my GMT from my computer and had this printed and mounted for my birthday on the 13th of March 2012.

Amazing definition.
