If you can take it, the watch can too. Beautiful scenery, by the way.

I'd feel uncomfortable in the wild without a good watch.

I would switch the bracelet out for cheap nato or rubber strap just so you aren't banging the bracelet up unnecessarily. But the watch can definitely take it!

It can take anything you can throw at it. You're good. Like others have said, get a nato if you don't want scratches on the bracelet.

The sub should be able to handle a hike.

Life's too short for such worries; you should enjoy your watch and make it part of Your story.

I think the best choice here is to get an explorer2 and keep the sub at home.

Sorry not really helping.

In all honesty the watch should be fine. The only thing that could happen is god forbid you slip and fall. Then the watch could suffer some serious damage ( especially if the sapphire hits a rock hard enough it will break.) However, if you fall that hard you probably will be concerned more about your bones than the watch.

Wear it, be careful and don't bust your ass!

Your watch can absolutely, positively take it.

The question is whether you can absolutely, positively take your watch absolutely, positively taking it!

I have the same watch and I'd be happy to wear it under those circumstances.

Hello everyone :)

I was just wanting your opinion on wearing a Rolex 1655 as I'm off to climb a big snowy mountain. Going through light weight rock climbing, steep muddy hills/steps, frozen streams and following clustered trails. Would you personally think it would a good idea to wear such a watch? I'm not afraid to scratch the bracelet or anything it is my first rolex and want to make sure it can take the abuse.

Thank you.

Sir Edmund Hillary.

It actually took me years to start wearing it daily. I sent it off for service and missed having it terribly. Hasn't left my wrist for any reason since I got it back. Wear in good health on all your adventures. It can take it!

Well it looks like it won't get wet since this seems to be a serious issue with Rolexes nowadays, so you have that going.

There's several sides to this coin, those that bought a Rolex for jewellery, that bought for use in life and those bough it for the name.
I tend to fall into the use category, but I do take care of my watch and must admit that about 20% of my watch's purpose is looking pretty. And by the amount of wrist shots in this forum a large majority are the same.

I'd probably wear my Suunto in this environment because it has some features I use in the woods, but I wouldn't shy away from taking my Rolex out there for nice hike.

Chaps

If you are the sort of person who worries about damaging anything due to daily or normal use, then your best bet is to sell it and stop worrying.

This applies to expensive watches, cars or anything similar.

You buy the item to use it, not worry about it.

Regards

Mick
