Wasn't that on May 5? (Common American misconception, and really just an excuse to drink...not that we need an excuse!)

That is something I have a good time about. 5 de Mayo we celebrate Batalla de Puebla (Mexico beat France in Puebla, despite the odds), not a big deal celebration wise in my country...but in the U.S., it is THE Mexican holiday!

Our independence is Sep 16.

I'll do that.

I might be able to get Carta Blanca locally, but what are some others decent beers? I know for sure I can get Tecate, Modelo, Dos Equis, Corona and Sol.

And what would be a decent Tequila that is reasonably available. My store seems to have many of these, so I'm guessing price will be a good indicator. Many Reposado and Mescal. As far as Anejo, just La Certeza.

Well, it depends on your personal preference and tastes. On large brewery (non micro brew), my 2 cents:

Medium body: Carta Blanca, Indio, Dos Equis, Modelo
Full body: Negra Modelo, Bohemia

Some of my personal favorites:

White (blanco) tequila: 1800, Maestro Tequilero, Reserva de la Familia Platino
Reposado: Herradura, 1800, Maestro Tequilero
Añejo (aged): Maestro Tequilero, 1800
Extra añejo (extra aged, +$100us per bottle): Reserva de la Familia, Don Julio 1492

Nice blends, soft yet clear due to filtration: Don Julio 70, Dobel

With all of them, sip it; just as you would do with a fine spirit.

Enjoy!!!!
