Icon5 Baby names?

Hello everybody!

For you that don't visit the coffeeshop... I'm having a girl according to today's ultrasound!
The only problem I have is that my husband and I cannot agree on a girl's name!

So, since there are so many people with different cultures, and languages on this awesome forum, I would like the help of all of you!
Please give me the name that YOU find super for a girl, and let me know what the meaning is in your language (if it has one).
I'm not going to judge on the name publicly because I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but I will let you know if there's a winner!
AFTER the baby is born I will announce the name to all of you. I want to keep that a surprise....

So please, may I have your assistance?

Tom is always a good name.

That way if she is not too girly and good at sports it won't be such a stretch to call her a Tomboy.

Congratulations on the baby girl, Mireyna!

I vote for Grace and or Celine. Names of the 2 most important ladies in my life. My wife and 13 yr. old daughter. Honestly, I don't think I have ever met an evil woman named Grace.

The meaning of the name Grace is Grace Of God. The origin of the name Grace is Latin

The meaning of the name Celine is Heaven. The origin of the name Celine is French.

All the best with your pregnancy and good luck with choosing a name for your baby.

Two names I really like are Alpha, from Margaret O'Brien's character in the movie Lost Angel, one of my all time favorite movies, and Jadwiga. The latter is polish, Jadwiga was also known as Hedwig in German. SHE was a King of Poland. Not queen, KING. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jadwiga_of_Poland

All the best!

Edit: Found a summary of Lost Angel: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=81851

Paloma: meaning dove (I like how this sounds with your last name)

I like using family names, Mireyna, and all three of my girls have a surname of a relative as their middle names. Phoebe Witten, June Baswell, Violet Taylor. (side note; Phoebe was actually named after an old train - the Phoebe Snow of the Erie Lackawana Railroad.)

See how the names you like appear in writing. Imagine calling your daughter that name over the years. Hear how it sounds with a middle name and your last name. We mulled and mulled over names, and with girls you can really have fun with them. Thanks for inviting us to have fun, too! I'll send more as I think of them.

I've always love the names Paige and Lauren.....

Now a quik story:

When we had our first....(girl) we named her Megan. 2 years later...we had a boy on the way......I wanted to name him Ryan...for a very silly reason. When they were older...I wanted to be able to open the front door and yell:
" MEG RYAN, GET YOUR ASS IN THE HOUSE, DINNERS READY" and for obvious reasons....the name ryan was quickly tossed! I was able to give megan a middle name of paige....

Good luck......and CONGRATS!!! ( ps: little girls are the BEST! )

My wife's name is Wendy - which I always thought was a nice name for a girl.
When we were choosing names for our son my wife insisted that we choose a name that doesn't automatically get a nickname (Bobby, Jimmy, Billy) and can't be shortened (Rob, Cam, Ben) or worse - add a Y to the end. She still cringes when her father calls her brother Mark "Marky".
We finally chose "Ethan" to be the name of our son. According to our baby name book, Ethan means strength.
Back in the day (12 years ) we had to buy baby books. Today you have the internet.
I'll ask my wife to remind me what names we had selected if we had had a girl and I'll pass them along.
I tend to like the more fluffy, flowery girl names.
Taylor, Chloe, Daphne, Courtney, Molly etc.
I'm sure your husband will have some great ideas too and you have lots of time to find the best name for your perfect little girl.

I am having a boy in a few weeks however we planned both names out just in case.

His name is going to be Mason however if he had been a girl it would have been Makayla!

According to the US Social Security Administration the top 10 female names for 2007 were:

1. Emily
2. Isabella
3. Emma
4. Ava
5. Madison
6. Sophia
7. Olivia
8. Abigail
9. Hannah
10. Elizabeth

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

I would never have chosen any of these as the most popular names, where the heck did Madison come from

I like "Naomi", she was a girl who broke my heart, or Natasha....

Mireyna, if we were to have another girl, we'd probably name her Claire. I also love the name Julia.

My only unsolicited advice (speaking from experience) is that I suggest not telling anyone about your name choices until the birth of your daughter! I know that sounds a bit crazy, but people seem to have very strong opinions regarding names. For example, we had planned to name our son Jacob, and were quite excited that we actually found a name we both loved. Unfortunately, my mother did not share our opinion of the name and proceeded to let me know all the reasons why she hated that particular name.

Needless to say, she *ruined* the name for us and we chose another (and like it even better). Regardless, have fun choosing - this is such a wonderful time for you!

Carolina - my mother hated ALL the names we chose. She thought we should go with the most popular names of the day, which we found sooo boring. And you're absolutey right - I was amazed at the forcefulness of some of the relatives when it came to pushing their opinions of names on us!

Should have changed the name of one of my kids, not the current crop that live with me, to Enimton. It has a special meaning if spelled backwards..

Love the kid as mine so all worked out just fine.

If/when we have a daughter, we will name her Julia.

My sister, Alison, just had a daughter and named her Jaya.

Lots of other good choices here too.
