My first attempt to step into vintage...well, almost vintage waters
Hi fellows,
After my Explorer 214270 and Explorer II 216570 polar I decided to test the vintage water a little. The venerable Datejust seem to be s perfect candidate for that. What say you? Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk |

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately the screws are seized tight on the Jubilee so even my watchmaker couldn't remove the extra links for the bracelet to fit so I'm sourcing an aftermarket one.
Spoonage: wearing any one piece often proves to be more difficult than I would have thought. It's not a big collection but some pieces are not getting any wrist time at all as it is. Coincidently I have a 75190 from 1992 that I bought new...when it only costed usd1k Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk |

Explorer and Heritage Ranger too, I really like your style! Some very tough choices to make there!

Nice collection! I see why it's hard to wear 1 piece often. Rotating through that collection would be fun.

Yours looks great on the vintage minimal strap you put on it. That strap is a beautiful shade of brown, and really adds to the vintage charm. One thing I really like about the silver dial, is that it goes with any colour/type of strap. I got a camouflage strap for it, and it works. Did your watchmaker try applying heat to loosen up the jubilee screws? Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

BTW, what year is your 16014 if I may ask? Your dial and mine looks to be different...yours has 1/2 second hash marks and the stick indices seem to have bevel on top. Mine is 5.5 mil serial which dates back to late 1978 early 1979, and is without those two features.
Seems there's a LOT to learn when it comes to vintage Rolex pieces... Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk |
