I like a lot of Mercs and BMW's but this and the X6 are indefensibly ugly imo. |

Personally I wouldn't buy a car that was just replaced - You're still paying close to top dollar, but getting an outdated vehicle - I'd wait until next year and get the GLE63 once it has been out for a year, if you like the ML63.
IMO the best year to get a car is the 2nd year it has been in production, they've worked out the kinks, it's still new and won't be outdated in the near future, and the price has come down so you're not paying MSRP or leasing for top dollar. I'm actually excited to see the new F Pace Jaguar. I'm not a huge Jaguar fan, but the styling looks real nice, almost like the F Coupe in a crossover/SUV body. |

x5m would be my choice far and away unless the cayenne turbo can be swung. If you think it's ugly, don't buy it
I can't bring myself to like the mercedes steering column shifter |

I'd be all over the Merc like a fat kid on a cup cake. Not a fan of BMs.

Looks like the good 'ol Urban Dictionary has things spot on the same as the car reviewer I linked to about the GLE Coupe.

Guys, i'm sorry, the GLE Coupe has had a short reign as the ugliest piece of production automotive design on the planet, it's now down to number 2 on that list.
Why? Because this now exists. On behalf of my country I profusely apologise for us producing something so utterly terrible |

imho the BMW X5 lines are so much nicer/aggressive/modern than the Mercedes.
I actually enjoy and drive the X3 35i, which was my choive over the X5 and X6. |

As for the Evoque convertible, I personally think it looks pretty good and although I might eat crow for saying this, but I think it's going to be a HUGE hit and one of LR's most successful models yet. It might even fall into the cult status of the VW Cabriolet that took storm in the 80s. From Google: 'Once the public got past the roll bar the Golf Cabriolet was hailed as the spiritual successor to the Beetle convertible. It was catapulted to cult status and almost 400,000 examples rolled out of Karmann’s workshop during the 14-year long production run.'

I walk past a Red mint Mk1 Golf Cab every day with the original BBS wheels, still a stunning piece of design.
The Evoque Cab weighs up to 277kg (610 lbs) more than the hard top, that's shocking and the complete opposite of efficiency and economy that the automotive industry should be aiming for. |
