My wife gave me a blue dial ss YM for xmas which I have wanted forever and truly love. Love the wife too. It's my second Rolex, my first being my hulk. What's the real story on bezel alignment? My hulk bezel doesn't align with 12, which does annoy me, and now my YM bezel is off as well. It's definitely noticeable. I've heard all types of things about this. All the way from it's normal to it's not normal to that's a way to tell its fake. Both came from AD. Thanks so much for any insight. Best fix? Going to be a while til service on both.

Would also like to see a pic, but I can tell you that I had my Hulk bezel realigned about a year ago at RSC. I went in for another reason, and happen to ask the rep about it. I wasn't expecting them to fix it, but he said he'd have the tech look at it. He came back out and said he'd fix it for me.

Anyway, all I can do is share my experience. I don't know if it's "broken" or just not very precise design. Also your reception at RSC with this problem may vary, center to center and rep to rep. But if it really bothers you it is something the might fix for you.

My SD4k isn't perfectly aligned either. It's very similar to yours. It doesn't bother me enough to send it in.

Don't have my hulk handy, it's in safe, but it's off a bit more than the YM. Definitely annoying.

Take it to rsc. My DSSD, BLNR, and 116613 all line up properly.

That would bug me. One of the things I like about the Black Bay is how the bezel lightly locks in place at the 12 mark. You can set it with your eyes closed.

I guess I'll take them both down to the AD tomorrow. Not going to look at it for 5-7 years wondering why it's off. The crown not lining up I can totally undestand but the bezel?

100% agree!

These watches aren't cheap.

Rolex needs to fix the watch if it's under warranty.

It's just the positioning of the insert inside the besel. Easy fix for RSC.

The only thing the bezel has to align with is wherever the minute hand is on the dial to time the elapsed time while say underwater.Its not meant to be permanently fixed within a cats whisker of the 12 marker yes the bezel does move.With watches that have ceramic inserts there could be a tiny bit of lateral play this in mainly because the bezel sits on 3 spring-loaded ball-bearing and a spring-loaded click stop.Now with the older aluminium insert it was a very easy job to take insert out and align it a fraction of a mm, as in most cases thats all it is a cats whisker.But with the ceramic thats a different story as you must have the correct tools to remove and replace other wise could be very costly if insert breaks.

Yes but you need a special machine to take it apart. I guess the solution is to bend the ratchet spring a bit.

It's perspective.. The bezel doesn't "align" with anything and works independently from the dial that you are trying to align it to.. The bezel is there to turn to the minute hand, wherever that may be, and never needs to be "docked" at the 12 position as you see in photographs.

Still, if it bothers you, it will need to go to the RSC for better alignment. Keep in mind, there is a tolerance that Rolex works to and it isn't perfect alignment as you might hope for.

Here is an interesting observation. Both bezels line up with the crown on the rehaut. The dials do not line up wth the crown on the rehaut. Could the dials be out of alignment?
