Heard him in an interview once . . . he said he'd retire AFTER Mick Jagger retires.

Jethro Tull was the very first concert I ever went to in New Orleans back in 1973. Wow... good read, thanks

Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull obsessive here.
Have all the Albums & Box Sets but living up in the country I regrettably never saw JT on tour in their heyday (before Ian's throat problems) but finally managed to see them in Brisbane in 2005, which was still a big thrill.
Some of the collection, also showing the "Too Old to Rock and Roll" DVD/Book from which Ed's picture comes.

No - you get the impression (from the books I have read) that Ian is not much into "things".
Cats, Dogs, Chillies, Indian Food, Musical Instruments, but not cars/boats/watches/mansions etc.

I enjoyed his music until his very anti-American rants.

Father-in-Law should have given him a Rolex, then he could have worn it thru the woods on his motocross bike.

I wouldn't hold that against him, Ian has had a shot at a lot of sacred cows over 22 Tull and 5 individual Albums. His music makes you think. You can't say that about many musicians.
