Gold ?

Just a question I was thinking about in the shower this morning. I love gold as I'm sure some of you do. How much actual gold is in the various Rolex models. I understand some are 14k some are 18k and some at a mix of steel and gold. With gold being about $1100 an ounce I think a 36mm has about 100grams 18k which puts it at $2820ish in gold. If anyone knows more exact numbers please share.

I have a Day Date, but scrap gold prices are not why I bought it... Just loved it

24K = pure gold...18K = 75% pure gold.

you'll have to do the math as I haven't the foggiest what a bare case weighs.

Well I hear a day date 36mm weighs about 140grams bracelets is half of that. So u have dial Chrystal and movement I'm guessing around 40grams so that is 100grams of 18k gold is you melt it you get $2820ish.

Newest generation Day-Date 36mm weigh closer to 190 grams.

While we're at it, how about we weigh a Ferrari? What's the raw material worth of one? Take one to a scrap yard...how much would you get for it?
