Tudor Black Bays

With the release of three entirely new Black Bays, as well as the existing BB's being given the in-house movements and COSC cert, do anyone think the prices of the previous ETA Black Bay's will drop significantly?

I feel as though, the biggest problem people had with the Black Bay's originally, was the lack of an in-house movement. I'm curious to see what will happen within the used market.

I hope the prices drop. I like the old dial better, with fewer lines of curved text.

My Tudor Black Bay keeps time as well as my other COSC Rolex Watches "despite" its ETA movement. No idea why anyone would get hung up on this issue as Tudor's have always used ETA movements!

I agree completely. I have no issue with the ETA movements, and they have a history all their own. I also prefer the rose dial over the shield. I'm just curious if the new ones will effect the prices of the original....mostly so I can take advantage of the price drop haha

I'm hoping that you're right. I prefer the current Black Bay without the riveted bracelet. The fact that it has an ETA movement doesn't concern me at all. I'll be looking for a new one in a few months.

Surely the first generation will be dropped at some point? The differences are subtle really (movement aside).

I hope the price doesn't drop too much on the 1st gen. I just traded in two Montblancs & chipped in cash for the BBN on bracelet.

its has always been the eta movement, i do hope with the inhouse movement people would see Tudor differently but I do think people will still disregard tudor as a poor man's rolex! sadly but who cares about their opinion. I do prefer the Rose logo over the Shield with the black bay.

I feel the original Black Bay Black which I own and LOVE will only go up in value down the road. It was only produced for a few months basically before being replaced. I find the rose logo iconic and even though I like the rivet bracelet look, the dial text is too "busy" and takes away from the simplicity of it. If you look at previous watches with limited runs it only increased their value with time.

The new generation BB are also available in all the original colours, which makes less sense to keep the 1st generation going, to me. It's like they tested the water with the ETA models, and as they were such a success, they've upgraded to the in-house movement. Although I've got a first generation BB, I do prefer the shield logo.

Prefer the new one myself but should the old one go down considerably I might get the old one and maybe a new one later on. We shall see.

I love the Black Bay Black as well, and was thinking of purchasing one. I have a Sub though and I feel they will too closely resemble each other when it comes time to reach for one. With all the buzz around these new Black Bays, I'm thinking of picking up a 1st Generation Black Bay with the red bezel. You still get that gilt looking dial, but with a slight difference in look than say, a submariner. Also, when and if those colored bezels will fade....we'll have some real beautiful unique watches on our hands.

I was just scouring around some of the Trusted Seller sites this afternoon. It looks like there some deals out there and the BB in all colors are moving quick.

I should have waited a few hours before i pulled the trigger and could have saved a few bucks.

My Pelagos and Advisor generally keep better time than my DJ2.

And I am picking up a BBN next week as I think the limited run will only help down the road.

Some will consider servicing too. An in house movement is nice, but usually means the manufacturer servicing gravy train. ETA is great for a daily wear or beater, and anyone can service them (for now).

I can see an initial price drop, just like the stock market when people panic sell after a news story. The price will level out again and I suspect those who sold early will lose out.

Was just thinking, the black one with ETA movement was probably produced for a short period. Knowing that a lot of people prefer the old style dial and black version, the black ETA version could potentially retain all of it's value and maybe go up a bit.

I don't think there will be a significant price drop. For what is an affordable watch to start with the in-house for me is not necessary. I own the BBR and like the watch. Would not flip for the new movement.
