Acura MDX -> Volvo V70 Cross Country -> Audi A4 2.0L

I've never enjoyed a car as much as the Audi, and will eventually get the same car in a TDI when it becomes available.

I got rid my Tahoe almost one year ago to the day for a Nissan Altima. Have been very happy with the decision.

I too have a Toyota Highlander and wish to downsize but I have a big list of wants for my new vehicle and I have found that they don't exist in the US at this time.

1-at least 35 MPG highway
2-Good Nav system
3-Good ipod integration
4-at least 2/3 the storage space of my Highlander
5-all wheel drive option on demand
6-comfort

I found the car that fits the bill but it is not imported into the states yet.
The Mercedes Benz B Class is sold in Europe, Australia and even Canada but not the US.
I think cars like what I want will become available in the US but it may not be for another year or two.
There are no nice cars sold in the US that get over 35 MPG besides a Prius.
I find it hard to believe that the auto industry didn't see this oil crisis coming and has done nothing to prepare for it as a result there are lots full of SUVs and trucks sitting around that no one wants to buy.

Funny thing, I saw two Smart cars driving around the little town of Bellefonte, PA last week in the middle of farm country. I thought I was seeing a Shriners parade, wow, they are small.
Then I started thinking, if there selling these Smart cars in farm/rural areas, they must be really selling them in city/urban areas.

A buddy of mine called me today... he had just gotten a killer deal on a new ML350. He had one on a 2yr lease, and it was going to be done in 3 months. The dealer was so hard up for sales, they paid his final 3 months, his first payment for the new lease, and waved all the deposits. He said the sticker had been 53K, the deal he got put the effective cost at 43K on a new lease. He said the dealership was a ghost town.

His payment actually went down! If you don't drive much, I'd argue it's the exact time when you -should- be going towards a truck or SUV... they're practically giving them away.

I just need an SUV for winter to move in the snow. So I guess I can get a good deal then!
