Alaska Cruise Recap....
Last month Pam and I went up the inside passage on a 90,000ton Cruise ship to visit the frozen north of Alaska..
After a few days of eating everything we could, every other hour for a few days, we arrived at Juneau, the State capital and took a short drive to Mendenhall Glacier.. Spectacular....We're a few miles away and the face is 20 stories tall: The snow melt was running off the mountain next to the glaciar bring a fast, wide, and very cold waterfall: Back on board again, we cruised up the Tracy Arm Fjord, past plenty of ice bergs. Finally arriving at Sawyer Glacier...This Fjord is a one ship path....While there the only way out was to turn the ship 360 degrees in place. Spectacular views: We also took an exciting train ride on the original White Pass and Yukon Railroad that covers 20 miles between Skagway Alaska and through to the Yukon Territory, a path the early gold miners took on foot> This train climbed at maximun grade and took us up 7,999 ft. to this rickety wood bridge and into the mountain.. This trip is on my recommend list..........

Wow, nice pictures :)
I love cruises as well. We went on one in 2003 (on the Voyager of the Seas, Royal Caribbean). We went to Jamaica, Cozumel Mexico (where it just so happens that I bought my first Rolex SS Sub. Date at the time :) ), and Haiti. Cruises are truly one of the best vacations you can take. |

That looks to be a fanastatic place...thanks for the great photojournalism, I almost feel like I was there...the second photo(waterfall) shows the massive scale of 'things Alaskan'. Great.
best, dan |
