Pressure test, O-Ring replacement on Long Island?

Was just on the thread about "new" service intervals and now with water activities coming up (if the sun ever comes out again in the Northeast...) I'm stressing a bit over the watertightness of my Sub.

Was planning to send it for service later this summer/early fall (last done in July of '08) but if there is a reliable "walk-in" watchmaker in eastern Long Island that does the pressure test/ring replacement would take it there now, anyone have info on that?

I imagine that there are a number of qualified watchmakers to pressure test your Sub and replace the case-back o-ring. I assume that is the one you are talking about..

However, that's not the one that is most prone to failure. It's the crystal to case seal that deteriorates first, followed by the crown gaskec, the tube o-rings, and then the case back gasket.

Replacing all the seals requires taking the watch apart.

Gonna give Rik Dietel a call, pending turnaround time not being months may just send it off to him now then hopefully get it back all "tightened up" and ready for the summer!

Rik at Time care Inc. got right back to me and suggested that, based on eight years since last serviced, it's time for new seals so my Sub is on the way to Florida (wish I was too!). It should arrive there tomorrow and he gave me a turn around of approx. 4 weeks so we'll see.

Will post a report, with pics, when I get it back...

Ric typically under promises and over delivers. Barring any major surprises, you'll have your watch back soon after Memorial Day and be in the pool or ocean stress free for the rest of the summer

You will be a happy camper when your Sub comes back from Rik. He serviced mine twice so far and does excellent work. Your watch will look and run better than new.
