Bought a 14060.....Your Thoughts?

the overall eye appeal on that is tremendous! scratch? well, you'll probably do worse in the first year you have it. then, when a bunch accumulate, service it.

Here are a couple more photos as requested. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'like curved inward near the base'. I always thought that these hollow end links were susceptible to bending and so sometimes they can look out of shape?

With regards to price, I paid top end for the watch, chrono24 will give you an idea. Considering the scratch and some other small defects I think a little overpriced. But from what I have seen the 'SWISS' only dials seem to be a bit more pricey since they're less common. BUT if they agree to replacing the crystal then I'd be happy. Will have to wait and see till tomorrow.

Unless it's a rare dial, and or a financial steal, seems like alot of effort trying to justify a purchase!!! May be better off looking for a similar one.

Looks good to me, gorgeous in fact.

Based on my reading of your reactions I'd be talking to the seller on the crystal issue and peg a goodwill gesture towards the replacement as the minimum threshold of acceptance/keeping the watch.

thanks it does! and fwiw i think its worth keeping the way it is, makes it easier to wear. down the line you can always service it and have it replaced

If you bought this watch to wear and enjoy, maybe have a little rarity to it..... Then wear it!! It looks great! 99.9999 of the world would never see or notice the things that are being mentioned here. You REALLY have to look for the scratch on the crystal. If it bothers you that much, replace it. If you plan on flipping it, or are looking for absolute perfection from a 16 year old watch, or these hyper-critical things bother you that much, I'd say move on.

You make a very valid point and I do agree with what you're saying. My main concern was having someone with more experience tell me about the case and whether it's been over polished or not. The crystal, if replaced, solves that problem. Of the 123 odd 14060 on chrono, about 5 are 'SWISS' only dials, so a bit more rarer, with none of those in the UK.

Thanks for the input my friend. I will take it back tomorrow and we'll see what they say/offer, if anything.

And yes, the watch is utterly gorgeous. I love the simplicity of the dial, especially the 'swiss' makes it even more minimalist lol. It is so comfortable too, I put it on and felt like I wasn't wearing anything, the watch that is, not my clothes

I did buy the watch to wear and enjoy just as you say. However I don't buy so that 99.9999% of the world would notice it. I buy it for my pleasure, what do I care if people can or can not see the imperfections? I don't care if it bothers them, they didn't pay for it, I did. So what can't I let it bother me? I don't expect absolute perfection, because then I'd just buy a new one. Oh and it's 17 years old lol.

Lol erm thanks. I haven't still decided 100% if I'm keeping it. Speaking to my brother about the watch and told me to stop being so anal and touchy about little things. He has a point.

Everyone can say what they want, and compare it to what it would look like if it were perfect, but the only way anyone can give you real advice as to whether or not it's worth it and you should keep it is if we know what you paid.

Well the price has a little to do with it. As I've said it was higher end of the scale. But not many 'swiss' dials are about so for that reason I think the price is alright. If it were a Swiss t<25 or Swiss made dial then it would be a different matter and I'd understand your point.

Watches this old will not be perfect, and if they are they will be very expensive. As an example, my 14060 is far from perfect. It has a scratch on the crystal, the case has been polished, etc. But it's been my watch for 16 years and I love it even with all of its "flaws".

The 14060 is an awesome watch!
Now, based on the price you paid vs. market prices, you may be able to find the exact same watch in better condition.
Then you have to decide whether you want to ask the seller for a discount and get the watch fixed or return it and go shop somewhere else.

Well after much deliberation, I decided to return the watch. There were some good comments made by members, so I'd like to thank everyone who replied.

I don't regret it since I have decided to save the money and put it towards an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak instead, which I have listed over for a long time so I'd rather work towards that instead. Maybe there will be another 14060 in my future.

Happy that you're at peace with your decision, you know that once you stop searching another one will pop up! I know that you were smitten with the Swiss only dial but if you are able to look past having to have that your options will be much greater. Keep us posted!

Agreed! I actually prefer earlier dials...and not just because I have one. I have a T < 25 dial and love it.

I also like the earlier dials too. I was actually more into those at one time because of how the dial gets a nice patina over time.

Time will tell where I go from here ;)
