This is how I can get a new Rolex Platona absolutely free
It's all about allocating resources and justifying one's actions to accumulate cars, watches, homes, stocks, bonds, gold, etc. It is amazing what we will do and tell ourselves, and our Wives, to justify our obsessions.
Your car is nice and you like it. If you don't feel the need to get another one right now don't and get your FREE watch! IMHO

So you can buy a 100k+ car with no loan so it is cash but you can't buy a watch? What the hell! I say sell your car buy the Platona and get a 5k car that runs.

When I return to the UK in two years, I am seriously considering a cheaper car so that have more disposable income for another watch.

Some of you guys are crazy!
Who in there right mind wants to wear a Platona and drive a Civic? Nobody who appreciates the type of craftsmanship and allure of a platinum watch would balance that out with a car that's as exciting as a toaster oven. |

Well at least the Platona wouldn't depreciate as much as a car!

I'd do the same, why not use a car for 6 years instead of 3 ?

sounds right to me!
i think you should now take credit out on yourself, get the platona now, and pay it off with your system over the coming years. |

Not sure how this is "free..." I have always bought my cars outright as well (not supercars mind you), but am slowly learning that if it floats, flies, or drives... lease it. Buy watches instead

Cars (for the most part) depreciate. Watches if bought new do too. I choose in general to pay off my cars and drive them as long as possible. Still riding my '98 Road Glide, driving my '04 F-250 although my Mini is only a year old and was purchased through trade in of a three year old one. But that was a matter of emotions and not finance.

Not sure where you are going with this last comment, but I for one, neither flaunt nor hide what I have. My case in point is to have a smurf in the near future, 99 out of 100 people think its 'just' a steel Rolex. Honestly, not even sure why I need to explain myself here. nuff said |

Why would you ever put money into a depreciating asset, especially high performance german coupes and sedans? The depreciation is ridiculous, the maintenance costs are ridiculous outside of warranty, and you risk "booking" your resale value if you were to ever be involved in an accident and have it against the carfax.
Lease, and put your cash into something that will GROW... heck even a savings account at a bank promo rate of 3% is better than that crap shoot. |

FWIW, I overcame the new car desire a few years ago. Sticking with the existing stable bought several exotic vacations, three watches, and some other things I probably wouldn't have considered previously. Waiting for the incoming... |

Great way to justify a Rolex purchase. And you can measure it dollar for dollar.
Friend of mine once got a free car (it was a Scion). He was driving his huge pick up truck every day when the gas prices went sky high. The savings on gas each month paid for the Scion, and he was able to keep his truck for the weekends. |

One thing not mentioned. Depreciation only factors in when you sell the car! If you never sell the car you are always out the $130K! LOL.
Not sure why you have 5 cars and not a Platona! Leasing or extending ownership length to 6 years will easily save you tons of cash! |
