1950's technology on 2016 highways? The fantasy needs to yield to reality. I've personally owned and driven several classic cars of this vintage and I don't think it will turn out at all the way you probably envision.
No airbags, ABS, power steering, 3point restraints, and seats completely lacking in support.

My advice- rent a nice new convertible and enjoy the ride!

I agree Hertz is on the higher end of pricing but they also have the best selection of vehicles. Off airport rentals are cheaper for local rentals but from my experience, one way rentals are typically cheaper at airport locations.

You said you have a newer Subaru. Just take that and save yourself almost $2,000 to rent a car.

My mistake, I was looking at Terrain but was thinking Tahoe. Also missed the one way trip. Hoping the OP didn't pick up the Tahoe and get hit with a $7k bill.
