6466 question
When did the Oysterdate 6466 transition from using the cal 1215 movement to the 1225? Thanks!

good question as the 6694 used the same movements. i think the transition took place in the early to mid '60's.

I thought most of the 6466s came with the 1210. Maybe the 1225 was a later replacement. A better movement no less. No harm, no foul in my book

Seller just told me the watch is a 159XXXX serial, which does place it in 1967. Would the 1225 be correct for that year?

For what it's worth, I just posted a thread on this (to clear doubt) but it is still pending approval from mods.
I'm looking at photos of two 6466 movements (pictured below). First is a '61 and the latter, a '65 - was wondering if the differences would render either one non-authentic. Did my own research (Rolexforums is fantastic) and realized that the '61 has a 1215 movement whilst the '65 has 1225, hence the difference. Honestly the only thing that stood out was "UNADJUSTED" on the 1225 that I do not oft see in the photos online, but there are 1225 movements with that stamped. I guess it would be correct to assume that the 6466 moved to the 1225 circa mid-60s based on my humble noob investigative work. I guess I've answered the question to my own post as well. In all fairness, am new to Rolexforums but starting to realize just how rich in information this site is due to all the combined experience, etc of members. 1961 (1215) 1965 (1225) |
