My First Rolex (Sub)- Help Wanted

So I have had many Omegas, Sinns, and Heuers; but never a Rolex Sub. I have decided that until I own one I will always wonder. I know that I am not ready or willing to go new, and quite frankly the budget is tight for a Sub. I was thinking $3700-$4200 and no date. This I think has brought me to a 5513 or a 14060? If I could get opinions on the better buy (if there is one) I sure would appreciate it. I am sure there have been a ton of threads like this on this forum, so I really do appreciate anyone who lends their time to educate me a little more.

More informed members will be along to help soon, but I think you'll struggle to find a good Sub for that budget, ive spend countless hours searching for Subs and GMTs recently and good ones seem to go for at least £4200/4500 sterling.

I would save or add a little to your budget because your not to far away, or maybe consider a Tudor Sub.... just not the Snow Flake( they are crazy money )

I just searched for 14060 and the lowest I found was 4500US. And that was without a bracelet, had a leather strap on it. You might have to bump up your budget at least 500

Good luck

I doubt you'd get a 5513 in that price range unfortunately.

I would save a bit more. £3K here would be the lowest for a good condition sub so that used to be $4.5K but now is probably around $200.

Definitely no 5513 at that price that I can see. The 14060s have gone up too. Last year I sold a G serial 14060m with box (no papers) for $4200.

So, could we pretend there was no price put in there and discuss benefits to each model?

As others have said, definitely no 5513. You might be just able to get into a 14060.
Man have times changed. Bought my first pre-owned 14060M in 2009 and paid $2800!

At the core of it, I'd say movement, dial and crystal are the differences.

Just save until you can get what you want. Don't compromise.

I'm with you on a Sub, I have to have a date though. I use the date function several times a day. I found one a few weeks ago for $4500, didn't have the funds in place to pull the trigger. Funds are standing by now.

You might get lucky around $4200 -$4500 for an older 14060 no date- no papers. If you can go a little higher you will get lucky eventually either with a newer watch or better condition or both. I think it's worth paying a little more. Make sure you can rely upon the seller and it doesn't need a $5-$600 service soon.
