5 & 6 digit brothers
I've just allowed myself the experience of having both the 114060 and the 14060m. Who else has the 5 & 6 digit version of their favourite reference?
I've read a lot of reports on which is better and why... but never truly appreciated the differences for myself Both watches practically represent my initial attractions to the brand. The submariner 14060 was the watch I drooled after and tried on for size numerous times even though I had no money to own one.... but that Did not dissuade me. Eventually I got into a position where a purchase was looming. Amidst the relentless price increases in the uk at the time I managed to get on to the "rolex ladder". But, that first watch was a 116610ln. Simply the newest submariner to the market - with all the so called improvements... ultimately I'd have preferred the 114060 but it hadn't been invented at that time. Soon enough the 114060 hit the market tho and so I did make the change. Recently however I've rediscovered my rolex roots and acquired the initial object of my desire the 14060m I can certainly see the difference between them. But I also really appreciate those differences. It's taken a while to see through the fog of "what's the best" in order to allow an appreciation for the previous generation. I'm not going to list all the differences that we all know about, just wanted to share the experience with you like minded folk My only concern now.... is where will the appreciation for the previous generations take me |

I love both my SD 16600 and SD4K 116600. Great watches.

I've had both LVs although not at the same time. A family member still has the five digit version so I've compared the two together. I prefer the six digit types due to the bezel and clasp.
At any rate, great post and picture. |

It's a very slippery slope. I have a 114060 and a 16710, and my love for the latter which is vintage is having me considering the 14060 now...

I think it's cool that you focused your collection to the references that you personally appreciate.

Great choices, I have had the 116600 and recently traded it for a 16600. Both watches are amazing and there isn't anything I could say bad about the 116600 but for me it doesn't get much better then the 16600. The five digits just have the last of the Rolex spirit to me.
