Mick, Adam and Ruud please can I request a weekly tripartite offering from you? Perhaps a Newsnight for curmudgeons?

You Sir are a sadist.

Confused Mick,

I was under the impression that your post was a humourous anecdote about your indecisiveness. I was not laughing at the thought of Victor Meldrew wielding a chainsaw. Well, not at the material time anyway but now, well, that's a different matter.

And no 'regards'? How rude!

Regards,

Ruud.

Some how in the last 15 years I have bought and sold over 30 nice watches. I can't say I really have any serious regrets. I now have 7 or so of those watches and imagine some of those may go and others may come. Really just part of the sport of being a watch collector. I guess since I have always been able to sell for close to what I paid or never passed on a watch that was undervalued the money side has not been an issue.

Hey, by the way should I traded in my BLNR for a Daytona C??

Yes, do trade!!

I really like the GMT and as states, I do regret selling it. But given the choice between a GMT and the 116500, it's a very easy decision. The Daytona is magical.

Ruud

I decided to be humourist in an unhumourust way - I think that's what I meant.

Possibly you should give Rolex a miss.

I'd rather regret the odd purchase than come on off as so horribly smug.

+1 to this. Awesome quote.

I most regret buying the 216570 after selling a 116610.
Ended up selling the 216570 to buy back a 116610!

Now my heart yearns for the new 116500.
Great quote!

I'm about to go shopping for a Royal Oak which I've been researching for the past year. So, I'm pretty happy with my approach and not sure how anything I've done suggests I should give Rolex a miss?

But have I made mistakes, yep. Have I learned from them, yep. Will I probably make new mistakes, yep. This applies to every aspect of my life, and I'm pretty comfortable with that.

Different strokes I guess...
GREAT OUTLOOK! I agree!

Sorry to add onto this as you sum it up well. But I like to think I'm a student of the English language, so I'd like to add an adjective.

Earlier, I added hubris. Based on your comment I'd like to offer "pretentious".

Why this whole scenario bothers me? I don't know. Maybe I should do some soul searching myself.

But I always did feel a responsibility to defend against bullies.

Not really. I buy them and if something does not feel right with the way I enjoy them later, I just sell it and move on to the next - problem solved

I got the Rolex bug early this year.

Bought the 216570, followed by 116710BLNR & then 114060 (in keeping with the SS sports watches, but I wanted one w/o a cyclops). No regrets about any of the purchases but...

I traded the 114060 in on a 116600 sd4k (which I gave to my son as his masters degree graduation present). I'm kicking myself for trading in the 114060 - should have just kept it & bought his sd4k outright!!

Mick,

Well that clears that up. Thank you.
