Guess where I went today? Porsche fans please stand up!

I've been meaning to stop by here for a while since it's by the office. Today I said **** it and came by. Boy was I in for a treat!

Porsche Experience Center (Los Angeles)

It's rainy over here in SoCal, so I decided to book the driving experience for another day. Just the front entrance loaded with the 911R, 918, and 959 Gruppe is enough to satisfy any metal head.

Part museum, part tuner shop, part restaurant, and part race track. There is something for everyone here.

The red 959 was in the garage getting tuned, I was dying to know what they were doing to it but the guys in the garage had their lips sealed

Oh yea the food was top notch upstairs. Even the butter is in the shape of a 991!
(Snapper was bomb too!)

Great shots! That 911R would be my grail of grails.

Looking forward to doing a track session there myself as soon as we get some dry weather again and I can work out a time with my buddy to meet me up there, but now you've motivated me to just get up there to dine and check out some of that Rennsport porn!

It looks awesome but with those conditions would have been more fun in the late 70's fat bellies big ego's and 930 over bite...... The RSR headlights look more like a tourbillon than a globe.

On the Porsche website, there are no Porsche driving school classes available at the Carson facility...only "Experiences". Did you enquire about driving school availability?

Great photos

Did you make them an offer for the 911R?

The way I read the various "experiences" they are indeed teaching sessions (at least to some extent), though certainly they exist to promote the brand by giving drivers hands on wheel time in various models. For example, under the "Mastering the Manual" experience it says:

"Personal driving coach for the duration of the appointment"

and

"Handling Circuit: A one-mile handling course designed to mimic winding country road with a number of corners and undulations. Here, a driver will learn the finer points on choosing the correct path when negotiating the curves and proper application of braking technique"

In any event, here's a link to the list of experiences available:

https://www.porschedriving.com/porsc...ng-experiences

^ I understand. If you navigate the Porsche site, you will see the driving instruction offered in Atlanta is more comprehensive...all day sessions, or two day sessions. Carson does not appear to offer these classes, instead focusing on the 1.5 hour experiences.

**Edit to above - I noticed the Porsche Sport Driving courses are offered only in Birmingham (not Atlanta). This type of instruction is what I would like to see offered in Carson...along with the Experiences, which I'm certain are fun.

I don't understand the hype of this car. Give me a GT3 or GT3RS any day over the 911R.

I'm building a monster right now as we speak, updates around mid Jan when it's completed.

Yeah, the Porsche driving school is not at the experience center but at Barber (great track and facility, btw). Maybe Porsche will do something like that out here. We don't have a road course as nice as that but we do have the infield course at the Auto Club Speedway, and Willow Springs a bit north of Los Angeles. When it comes to driving schools there are a lot of offerings. Not sure how the Porsche school rates against some of the others.
