Agree with alpino.
It doesn't. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=268597

Why can't you accept that 16710 exception ?

If you don't like, you don't buy ... that's it
Well how many Comex subs are on the market for retail sale, same for the single and double red subs, considerably far less than this so called rare cal 3186 16710.The 16710 with the cal 3186 is not a real rare watch, just made in smaller numbers, but hundreds perhaps a thousand or more of them around world wide. And myself would much rather have in my collection a Comex or single or double red sub or SD than a slightly modded version of a mass produced 16710.

Hi all, just to let you know the difference between selling price and the final purchase price, I just bought a 3186 rectangular for 9500€, Z9, in very good condition, box and papers with a slightly faded red bezel. I could have bought a 116710 for much less, but it isn't a Pepsi, is it?
The seller wanted originally 12000€, so yes there is a premium on the 3186, but realistically they are not sold at the price we see on Internet.
Having said so, I think it is no longer a temporary hype on this watch, I am convinced the3186 will always have a premium over the standard 3185, and I expect they will go even higher when the 116710 will be replaced. only time will tell us if my view is correct.
