If I can't wear my watch then I normally ask myself what is the point of owning it? I personally would not hesitate in wearing the Daytona diving. This isn't a commercial dive and you would be fine.

On the public roads that is just not smart. Cops just waiting to put you in jail. A guy at work got caught on the interstate at 2am going 160mph in his MB S-Class AMG. He told me it took over $50,000 in lawyer's fees to keep him out of jail and to keep his drivers license. Sold the MB and bought a Mini - told me its fun to drive under the speed limit.

If you can afford a Daytona just get a Seiko to dive with.

I would think or hope he meant in context of being on the track, which is where a lot of people stretch their car's legs.

The Sravronikita lies off the west bank of Barbados in 120 feet of water. well within the depth limits of a Daytona (rated for 330 feet).

I'm impressed, not many have been to >100m.

I would like to see the pix.

Ah, I thought the OP was saying Daytona depth limits were 25-30m. Never would have checked the limits myself. I'd never think to wear one diving when I have diving watches to take.

Scuba diving with Rolex Daytona?

Of course you can dive with a Daytona!!

What does your watch say on the dial again?

Waterproof to 100 metres / 330 feet

Here's two clips from the trip:

Sort of short, but not sure where the full length ones are since it's been 3 years now.

"Oyster" just means it's hermetically sealed/waterproof, not that it's designed to be a diving watch. But if people want to dive with them, that's their prerogative.

There is something appealing about taking your favorite watch with you when you go diving. It doesn't need to make any common sense, I totally understand the logic.

Other than occasional splashes from washing my hands, I wouldn't want to get a Daytona wet. Too risky IMO.

Life is too short, take that thing down with you. Ignore the naysayers, they either don't dive or can't appreciate/phantom that kind of bond creation. Every time you will look at your watch you will remember how it looked deep under water surrounded by that special environment (and you will feel cool ;-)). You will regreat not doing it.

Safe diving!

Every Rolex Oyster is water PROOF, not just water resistant. Every Oyster case is individually pressure tested to 15 - 25% above its rated water proof rating. There is nothing risky about taking any Rolex Oyster under water, unless it is an older model that hasn't been pressure tested in a while.

Wrong, all specs. are for water RESISTANCE. Check the Rolex website. Even a solid brass part is not waterproof.

I agree but I don't think I would risk taking a Daytona diving. I have a GMT Master II that I have been reluctant to take with me diving. I look at it as an excuse to get a watch that was built for diving and am looking at either the No Date Sub or the SD4000. I use a dive computer for the real dive analytics but do want a real dive watch as a backup and as an accessory.

The OP asked if he could go scuba diving with a Daytona.

The answer is yes as it's good to +100m.

I don't know why that was such a difficult question to answer.

I would be more concerned with all the other scuba items that could fail?

Also please make sure that tank is full. Etc.

If you can read the sub-dials under water, have at it. I agree with an earlier suggestion...start the chrono and lock the pushers before the dive. That way you won't inadvertently activate them during the dive, which could throw off your perception of the elapsed time.

Also, if attacked by sharks, you can sell it to nearby dolphins in exchange for protection.

I don't know. Insurance is null and void on the track. Are there that many $200K Ferraris on the track? I bet 99% never see the track.

You buy track day insurance, which is no big deal, and all kinds of high-end car owners do it. A lot of car clubs have track events.

Wow. Those Daytona's are certainly put on a pedestal by some. I'm a recreational vacation diver and wear my Sub...but to tell the truth it really doesn't read well under water so I didn't use it for timing at all. The dive computers are so easy to read and plus I'm with a group so it seems were always up early (better than late). I wear the watch because I enjoy wearing it 24/7...except for the gym because of kettle bells clanging around. I say wear the Daytona over or under the suit. It deserves to go along for the ride and I'm sure he would love some battle scars from the journey...albeit small out of the way ones

Watch will be fine but I wouldn't push the pushers when submerged. If you stick to that it will be just like most other Rolexes.
