Trade up from 16610 to BLNR
Hi There,
I am looking for some thoughts from the knowledgeable folks here around a trade I am considering. I own a G serial 16610 and around six months ago added myself to the waiting list for a BLNR in my local AD in the U.K. I received a call today from the AD to say they had a BLNR in stock and I was next on the list. Unfortunately I would not be able to afford to keep my sub if I purchase the BLNR and would have to sell it on. My question is whether the BLNR is a good every day one and only watch and whether you would do this trade. I do really like my sub. It also really lust after the GMT. I don't often where suits nor do I dive and I mostly wear smart casual attire in the office. Thanks for any thoughts / opinions in advance |

The BLNR is a stunning watch.
I've owned most models including Daytona and SubC, but nothing comes close to the BLNR. It has something special about it, feels amazing and looks superb. It has the perfect balance between casual and smart. It looks great with jeans and equally great with a suit. The blue dulls down when you need it to, but pops beautifully and often surprises you. It's the best Rolex I've ever owned and I would say grab it if you get the chance. Many in the UK are on lists and can't get one. Go for it!!! |

Personally prefer the Sub in this case, but both are great watches!

Yes the blnr imo is the best looking modern Rolex and would be my choice if I kept one considering the complication and aesthetics.

BLNR is a lot more substantial than fiver sub. I would choose it over the sub any day.

I own both and they rest side by side in my watch box. The BLNR is a "cheerful" watch at rest. The Sub C is a more serious watch at rest. What I wear depends on what strikes me when I open the box. If I had to have one it would be the Sub C.

BLNR is a keeper. Get one now while they're fresh. You will always be able to get another 16610. They are a dime a dozen out there. I wear mine daily and the blue can pop in bright sunlight and almost look black in low lighting conditions. An extremely versatile watch and more unique than the regular Sub imo.

The other option I am considering is keeping the sub and saving for a Speedmaster pro. With that option I start a collection and that does appeal rather than trading.

The BLNR is a stunner, if you've got the chance you should jump on it. There are thing to consider mainly how you'll cope with the PCLs and ceramic bezel. If it not for you move it on without a loss in the current market.

I would keep the vintage Sub, you can buy BLNR any time later as it's a new model...

Keep the sub. Pick up the speedy and grab a BLNR later.

Never trade a 5-digit Sub for a 6-digit GMT (or 6-digit Sub.) Now, if you were talking a 5-digit GMT, then I'd consider it.

The 5-digit Sub is cool and understated. The BLNR is more bulky and shiny, more a piece of jewelry than the Sub. So it depends what kind of look you want to go for. Do you want a big shiny piece of jewelry on your wrist or do you want a cool, timeless tool watch?

Try on the BLNR and then you will know what to do.
I did that and left the AD without it (this was before demand went crazy!). It's 16610 for me. |
