I think this FrankenDweller is going to make the 4000 series go up in value.

One of the things I've always loved about the SD/DSSD is the lack of cyclops. It looks cleaner to me plus people don't always see Rolex as they presume it has to have a cyclops to be an authentic Rolex.
Also, the red font looks worse than white IMO. A WIS loves a red sub or DRSD because it is rare and has great history - you can't create that by changing a font colour. |

I reckon the new Black bay silver is a bit more wearable compared to the 43mm 'Subdweller' haha

I like it. Not real sure about the cyclops but it is a handsome watch. Like all new releases, I look forward to seeing them in the flesh and trying it on to make my final opinion. I have questions about why a cyclops on a Sea Dweller but so far I'm very happy that I own a 40mm SD4000 sans cyclops.

Is that sea dweller 50th anniversary edition or regular production in future? Can someone answer?

Now when you are diving you can check out the date instead of watching The reef

Would have rather the date gone than the cyclops added.

They are calling it "THE SEA-DWELLER IS REVISITED FOR ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY IN A BOLDER 43 MM CASE"
"Rolex is introducing the latest generation of its Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller, a legend among professional divers’ watches created 50 years ago in 1967. The new Sea-Dweller features a larger, 43 mm case and the new calibre 3235, at the forefront of watchmaking technology and employed for the first time in a Rolex Professional category watch. To enhance the reading of the date, it is equipped, also for the first time, with a Cyclops lens on the crystal at 3 o’clock. The dial bears the name Sea-Dweller in red, a reference to the first model". I tried on a 44 DSSD and it was significant on my 8" wrist. Like a Tuna can. |

Love the design cyclops included but the size rules it out for me and I have never been a hugh fan of the fully indexed bezel. Would have been amazing if it was a sub.

Huh? Then it would not have been a new watch.

Hate it at 43mm. Why did a SD need a cyclops?
Rolex: do you want to see how an anniversary edition is done? Take a look at Omega this year. (Hint: exactly like the original!!!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Passion report nailed this one perfectly... I like that it has the new movement. Otherwise it doesn't do much for me...

I like it. I like the size too. I realize the history and whatnot but I'm a big guy and 43mm works well for me. I don't love the cyclops or the $11k+ price. Other than that I look forward to checking it out.

42mm and no cyclops were what most of us were hoping for, damn they still don't hear right.

My SD4K won't be going anywhere...Not terribly excited about anything I've seen from Rolex or Tudor.

Although I'm a collector, I wear what I buy and 43mm is too big for my 7 inch wrist. What's their rationale for making it this big? It is based on feedback from actual divers who need it to be more legible? 🤣

I love a bit of red on a face, something about it just grabs me. I don't care much for the rest. So glad I got my 116600 last year.

Missing a huge opportunity to bring back the dome and slot it in at 42. I'm guessing this means the dssd is on its way out at some point?
I wonder how it wears. |
