Yes, because they're the less popular models. Doesn't help much if anyone wishes to buy a Sub.

Don't you have to pay tax when you bring it back to the US?

US seems to be around 5-6% on average, UK is 20% VAT plus a bit extra.

They're not the ones people want though ...it's BLNR, SubC, ND, DaytonaC, D-Blue etc.

I would just wear it on my wrist. Send the box to the address of a relative if someone is concerned of getting in any trouble.

I called 7 stores yesterday in central London and various malls close to where I will stay and none had subs in stock. Guess I'm buying local after all.

Calls usually don't work even for availability now, esp if you have a foreign accent, you should still try them in person when you come here, they may get a delivery that day, but practice your best Downton accent to seal the deal.

OMG, I can't believe I have to say this again and that nobody knows this. Subs are EVERYWHERE, there are NO waiting lists or shortages.
They gave me the same crap at an AD, I pulled out the cash, they pulled out the watch. Simplez.

Maybe you are pulling out more cash than others who are pulling out cash?

If there is sarcasm in this, I'm not seeing it.

If you are serious then you are the one voice in a sea of others who are all saying the same thing....yes there is a dearth of SS sports models.

However if you were lucky enough to wander into an AD and buy one all power to you, however your experience doesn't make it the same for everyone.

Rubbish....I am personally close to 3 ADs, and there is a genuine shortage of SS sports models including subs and GMT etc.

Subs are NOT everywhere and there ARE waiting lists....you must just be living in a part of the UK surrounded by fully stocked ADs, or you've just hit some luck, but that's not typical.

No SS sports models but they had something else that caught my eye and I couldn't help but go try it on and put down a deposit.....

No problem with me getting a Submariner in London. Sent out a few e-mails to AD's in London on Wednesday last week. Got a few replies, there's a waiting list, have to put a deposit down, we'll call you if we get one etc.

Got a phone call on Friday afternoon from one of them and arranged to collect on Saturday. On the Saturday morning I got a call from another AD saying they had just taken one in as well. The AD I collected the watch from had a new Explorer in their window as well

I must admit, ringing around didn't work for me! I walked into mappin Webb who previously said to me a few months ago "we are so busy it's 12-24 months wait for SubC as we are in a big shopping centre (bluewater) try elsewhere".

Few months later I walk in, they just had a delivery that day and I buy my 114060, go figure?!

I guess it's worth asking on the off chance the AD has had a recent delivery. This store recieved the AK only 4 days previous. Wasn't there when I called last week. They had 50 people on the waitlist for a sub. When I was done with the purchase I had them add me to their list for a SD43, lol!!
