So is anyone going to buy the new dodge demon?

An absolute beast of a car with 840 hp and quarter mile times of 9.65.

Dodge just won the war. Ford and gm should just surrender.

I would rather spend the money on a nice watch, but I'm not a car guy.

me either. still impressive:

"The car can achieve full boost within six feet of launching off of the starting line by using traditional drag technology applied to a production car for the first time. The NHRA confirmed the drag time, and then banned the car from competition. Doesn’t mean you can’t still run it, though."

I think the car is unbelievably cool and impressive, but i feel like the guy who likes this car is the guy who would rather build his own. I do not know anyone into drag racing that wants to buy a pre-built car and even less a factory car.

I just do not feel like it is going to satisfy what people are looking for who are spending 85k plus on a car, unless it is just to say i had it and sold it.

but we will see

It's kind of a one trick pony. Yes it has unbelievable power but it can only go straight line. Still pretty cool though.

You have the answer right there. It's a novelty. Nothing wrong with novelties in my book.

On your death bed you will likely not look back and say...I wish I hadn't bought that 840HP dodge demon. What a foolish waste of money!

With that said, I'm not a buyer for this sort of beast. I like to feel in control. With rear wheel drive 3-400 hp and curb weight around 3k lbs is enough for me.

The car was built for collectors and soon to be Darwin Award recipients only!! Cause it's going to kill people.

I think the HP situation is actually getting out of control.

I do think there will be tons of people interested in buying a beast like this right out of the showroom. I'm not one of them though.

I think it's cool, but it's also asking for trouble on so many different levels.

The dealer mark ups are also going to be stupid, which I hate.

it is for bragging rights. smart marketing play for dodge imo.

and for people who say it isnt fast out of a straight line why not wait and see when it runs the nurburgh ring.

It's a one seat car.

It's a drag racer not a track car IMHO.

Dodge = Pass

NOW, for an SUV, this could be tempting:http://www.detroitnews.com/story/bus...suv/100376308/

I don't know, 500 hp is really nice. In my old Range Rover, it made it a much more drivable capable car compared to the same L322 with 300hp version I had before. In some of the Jaguars, it makes them go where you want when you want. It's almost a safety feature Imo. I'd like all cars I drive to have 500hp ideally.

Impressive power and speed. Scary fast. This car will be very dangerous for even experienced drivers. I imagine we will see many videos of people wrapping these around stationary objects. I would guess it will be pretty loose on the road. If the pavement is even a little cold or wet this will be next to impossible to drive with the tire setup that comes on it. I drove the measly 500 HP Scat Pack and it was pretty easy to get loose with good all season radials on it. Actually the Challenger RT Scat Pack is a really fun car to drive. This will be a little overkill.
My last "race car" only did low 10 second quarter miles. It was street legal but next to impossible to drive on the street in track setup. The way they setup the Demon it will be interesting to see if we see many on the street.

I'm good with 500hp. I prefer anything over 400 for me.

But the 707 was nuts. Over 800 for this?

What's next?

Crazy if you ask me.

Considering the ever-increasing gridlock on our roads and freeways, a car with that kind of HP seems utterly useless. All things considered, is it really going to get you to your eventual destination any faster? Open road driving (and weekend track excursions) aside, an 840HP vehicle is not very practical for boulevard cruising and/or commute driving.

Male ego issues and potential bragging rights = a car dealer's best friend. It reminds me of a neighbor who drives up and down the street in his fake/replica 427 Cobra. Few are impressed.

I think all other manufacturers should too, even the Chiron. This car is a Demon! Literally!
