Rolex lost a lot of the magic with the ceramic introduction.

And the BLNR is your favorite watch? Why not get a 5 digit GMT, those are pretty awesome

I'm amazed anyone could find a BLNR ugly...

It just shows how different peoples opinions can be, and that makes this thread so interesting ...I hope it keeps going :)

Two of the most iconic Rolex', the Daytona and the Dj, I'm not a fan of. Own(ed) both and ownership hasn't changed my opinion. It's perhaps strengthend it.

What's a guy to do ...

Haha I'm not offended that someone doesn't like BLNR, that's what it's all about.

If you're intent on getting what other people think is iconic rather than on what suits your eye, there's always the Sub or a yellow gold DD!

I also do not like the BLNR; seems like they scrambled to get something out, rather than waiting to get the red ceramic right.

I also do not like the maxi cases, or the general, "trendy" trajectory that Rolex seems to be on, though I still think they make an excellent product.

Maybe most significantly, I hate, really hate, the stupid "your watch and your____" posts, or those who will only take a photo of their watch sitting on a LV wallet or with their Porsche steering wheel in the background. Screams pretentiousness and insecurity.

I think the Daytona is hugely over-rated and over-priced.

I think that if the Deepsea had been issued with a blue dial at the start and then black later to commemorate James Cameron's dive, the black would be version that commands the premium and is more sought after.

I think the GMT2c's bezel is too busy.

Someone writes in asking what Rolex should they buy next and the resident Einsteins will respond with Sub or GMT etc. That's it, so reasons given for the choice, just one meaningless word.

If you did that in your job you would be fired, so why do it here.

Mick

To be fair I don't think Subs and GMTs need reasoning or justification

The green absolutely makes the watch for me! IMHO it's Rolex's best use of colour....

Horses for courses!

It's cooler to have one Rolex you wear every day, rather than a bunch of watches in your closet lined up like high heels...

Just kidding. This forum's fascination with childish nicknames is embarrassing. When people complain that a watch salesman doesn't know what a "bluesy" is, it makes me feel sorry for them.

Share your unpopular Rolex opinion(s).

1. I like most of the 6 digit models
2. PCLs are not that bad

IMO there are 4 acceptable nicknames: Pepsi, Coke, President, and Paul Newman.

It's less the nicknames than the instant and constant insatiable "so what do we name this watch the second that it gets announced". Along with the increasing stupidity of the names. Only the noobie seiko guy's are worse.

This isn't the "most people agree" thread! One nickname I can get behind - clownmaster 2.

If I could only have one watch, it would be a steel sub date.

I'd rather have an explorer 1 than any cellini model.

I like the steel white dial ceramic Daytona more than the platona.
