Purchase Regret?
HI Rolex Forum. I am new here and need some advice or consoling. Been desiring to purchase a white dial Explorer II. Finally did it and did not buy it from an authorized Rolex dealer but rather from a reputable watch dealer from whom I've purchased a Longines watch before. Decided to go that route because it was $1100.00 cheaper than from an authorized dealer. I purchased it. It appears the dealer was from Portugal but the instructions manual is in Italian. I asked him from whom did you purchase this watch from and his reply was "the authorized dealer is on the warranty card". And he said will get me an English instruction manual. I bought a date just champagne dial in Honolulu in 2015 while on vacation there and when I walked out of that store I had a warm and fuzzy feeling about my purchase. I certainly don't feel like it this time. The watch indeed appears brand new, still has all the stickers on it and everything. I registered it on Rolex tracker and it checked out. Any advice? Am I part of a scam?

I think if it has all the original papers and warranty etc is original. It's just a watch that was destined to another market but that still makes it legit!
Don't worry and enjoy it! Cheers |

Rolex only sends the watch and the warranty card to the Authorized Dealer as a package. Everything else - the box, the manuals, etc. - are put together separately from the AD's supply. So as long as the watch is authentic then I wouldn't worry. I understand not getting the warm and fuzzy feeling you got from the AD. The question is whether that feeling would have been worth $1100.

No scam. Just wear and enjoy. Congrats and well done on a large saving. That alone would give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

or your playing everyone and getting 'verification' from 'visual' experts that your fake is authentic looking?

If you have the warranty card why don't you just check against the serial number on the watch (if it's Rolex warranty card). Also, if it's a correct hand stack then chances are it is genuine because fakers haven't mastered that yet. I think you need to post better pictures than that. Never did understand why people ask for help and then post crap pictures?!!!

Take it to a reputable watchmaker and see if they can authenticate it. That will at least let you know if it is real, if not take it back.

Purchase Regret?
Welcome to TRF!
Would you mind posting a few additional (and clearer) photos? As others have said, you provably have nothing to worry about but there are some incredibly knowledgeable people on this forum who might be able to weigh in on the authenticity with some additional photos. Just a thought. |

Unless you have some other indicator the watch is not authentic, I wouldn't worry. Most of my watches came from another country and I have never had a problem at the RSC or anywhere else. That's just the way the grey market works.

I get a warm and fuzzy feeling every time I strap on my Polar. In fact, even when I try to wear another watch, I generally switch back to the Polar half way through the day...I LOVE that watch. Strap it on!!

Rolex tracker is a scam, some would say, but otherwise you're probably fine.

Their authenticity check is only as good as the information they have and they are not tied to Rolex at all. I would guess their main business is data gathering but I'm skeptical by nature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
