Corn, what squadron?

(Desert Storm Vet off USS Saratoga) I flew missions with Mark Fox, first confirmed Navy kill in the war, I was actually in the second group that day. He splashed a Fishbed. (Which to this day, he never lets me forget).

VFA-82. Was on the America right after the first Gulf war in 91-92 then again in 93-94. Did you know Crash, Trout or Devo? They were either on the Kennedy or Sara during the war. A-7 drivers.

What an insult!?!? Shellback of course! USS Carl Vinson crossing the line in ..... (I think) 88..... (?).

I was at Lemoore, VFA 97 Warhawks Don't know those guys but that was a long time ago. Thank you for your service sir and congratulations on being one of the few that flew the greatest aircraft in the world. . There is at least one other Hornet driver here on TRF; VMFA. He flew the same Lot 12 Aircraft I did about ten years later.

Truly humbled by what I've read on this thread.. What I did pales in comparison.. Was never active in Navy but sailed in Merchant Marine. Back in the day coming out of a Merchant Marine Academy they had what they called the 1105 program, Inactive Naval Reserve. I was an Ensign coming out of school. If you sailed in the Merchant Marine, and did Navy correspondence work, 4 yrs later you receive an honorable discharge at a higher rank. In that time I went from JG to LT. The idea was that the government could use you in time of war, if need be, but we were better utilized in the Merchant fleet for logistical capabilities and counted that as time served in the Reserves.

I know some of those guys. Kennedy. Last cruise of the A-7s; during Desert Storm. I was in VAQ-130 in Kennedy for DS/DS. And then I came to SFWSL to be the EW instructor. We probably crossed paths during an SFAARP.

What about Kru, Booger, Box, Beav...? I was there from 93-96.

Dave, I think that is awesome you served 42 years. Congratulations on such a distinguished career. Your country and ours as well, as your ally, are thankful for your service. I hope retirement is treating you well.

USN AD 2000-2007 + a few more reserve years. I was one of the guys putting y'all back together again when things didn't go as planned. It was an interesting time to serve. I don't regret a thing, but I'm very happy to be out.

15 years active duty... currently flying the duece.

2017-1991 = 24 years. So let's assume he went right in after college at 22, 15 years ago. That would have made him about 11 when you thought you could get up as high as the U2 for a midair.
