purchasing new or pre-own rolex ( any discounts from any AD?)

Greetings!
I would like to purchase men's and women's datejust with diamond dial/two tone rolex watches for my parents. However, the rolex authorized dealers in honolulu won't give any discounts. Do any of you can recommend any authorized dealers in mainland that offers good discounts? also, if I don't purchase the watches from the authorzied dealers, what are the disadvantages?
How about pre owned? I saw couple preown rolex from Tourneau? is it good to purchase from them? I don't think they are authorized dealer though.

Thank you very much!

I think the general rule is you have to buy in person.

They will ship to save the tax and manny here will discount up to 20%

welcome to trf! tourneau is an AD, but their pre-owned watches are expensive and very close to the bnib price.

Ouch you are a day too late on the price increase, but I'd call up some mainland AD's and ask if they can ship. You should be able to receive substantial discounts on the models you mentioned, especially when buying two.

Try Alan Furman (www.alanfurman.com) if you don't mind dealing with a gray market dealer. I've had several colleagues buy watches from them and were pleased with price, product and service.

Disadvantage from a non-AD is that if you have a problem with the watch during the warranty period (2 years), it won't be covered by Rolex. Usually GM seller's will offer their own 2 year warranty to give you some peace of mind, my issue with them is you don't know what you're dealing with if a repair is required - original parts, properly qualified watchmakers...etc. The other side of that argument is that if you're buying a new Rolex, nothing should go wrong in 2 years anyway. AD's can not sell over the Internet or phone. I imagine AD's aren't discounting much in Hawaii given the tourist traffic, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If you can get a price within several hundred dollars of the GM price, then you get the peace of mind of an AD watch and don't have to worry about the other stuff. No doubt there are some great deals to be had here. Good luck.

hey hono,
i'm from HI too, hit up the rolex dealer in waikiki near cheesecake. they'll give you the watches with no tax, and you might be able to squeeze out a little more because you're buying 2. might help your cause if you pick up Z serials, instead of the M. or try BB Timeworks at ala moana, i was offered no tax as well. good luck

Try not to go to a chain store.

Smaller family run AD's will discount.

In this economic climate 15-20% should NOT be a problem.

Good Luck.

Tourneau watches are not well priced at all for Rolex pre-owned. You're better off getting one here on TRF and condition is going to be better than ones from Tourneau. I know it first hand.

I would also try the AD at Pearlridge.

For you, buying from an AD in Hawaii will have service advantages in the future. Well worth it in my opinion.
