You still haven't answered my question from post 65. I raised it also in post 43. Please explain how choice and freedom apply in the fact that tesla is prohibited from selling direct to consumers in a blatant attack on free market principles designed as a barrier to entry for the purpose of limiting consumer choice . Saying not allowing diesel cars limits choices (as is the topic posed by the OP), but not having an issue with Tesla being limited from accessing consumers by selling directly is to their customers is hypocritical. Do you only support freedom of choice for the things you want to buy but think limiting freedom of choice for a product you are not interested in is ok? |

I'm not opposed to free market . I never said I wasn't interested in electric cars or hybrids. Actually I never mentioned any of that . All I was trying to say is one shouldn't be forced either way to purchase a product shoved down the throat by any government entity .. |

It's hardly a free market when the government has already chosen the winner. |

The government here gave me a $7700 rebate on the purchase of my hybrid (a BMW). I guess they like them all

last time I checked that was taxpayer money as well. Hard to keep up the free mark concerns when the government has already chosen ALL of the winners. |

Just curious as I really do not know.
What are they going to do with all those batteries that come out of the electric cars?

I wonder how they will tax electricity.
In Europe governments add a $4 or so levy per gallon on fuel as a tax under the guise that it is encouraging drivers to make less pollution when it's obviously because of the billions in revenue it brings in. Funny how they are promoting electric cars now, in 2040 I bet they will be "deadly to the environment" like petrol |

How about this people...I'm 58 years old and one the first things I can remember about science is that plants/trees use CO2 and the turn it into what ? come on we all know the answer,,O2 !! Then when I was in college it was Deforestation !! All the trees being cut down around the Equator the worlds heart the one thing that runs the worlds weather. Well shit seems pretty simple to me how about we stop wasting all the time and money talking this to death and just plant a crap load of trees.Just give those poor ass people who live in those places a little cash to stop cutting down trees just to burn it for their primitive existence. They cut down the very thing that has keep this little rock alive and then turn around and pollute it when they burn it,, twice the fun.And why is it that it's always the US that is first to get kicked in the nuts when China is pumping out 2xs as much crap into the air than the US does and the US emission are about the same as they where in the early 90s. Oh and one more little factoid, you know all those dinosaur fossils they find in the Dakotas? I'm almost certain that way back when that was a tropical swamp .HHMMMM yup climate change does happen. But I'm still betting on that turd that runs North Korea that will put an end to this world,,,any one else here want some of this action ??

The expansion of urban/suburban areas in SA has led to mass deforestation. Can't really fault the natives as the blame purely falls on developers and land speculators.
The US is also depleting its natural lumber supply as forest renewal takes time and the new plantings aren't keeping up with the ongoing demands for more construction wood. In the long run, our great-grandchildren will probably end up living in an IKEA world of pressed-sawdust home furnishings having rarely had the opportunity to cross paths with real wood. |
