over the last 2 years the pound sterling is down 15% vs USD and 21% vs the euro. Gotta adjust prices under those conditions

So, if the Pound re-strenghtens back to <1.40 Euro to the Pound>, then I guess Rolex will drop the UK price by 20% to put UK back on par with the EU?

Seriously, though, raises based solely on currency fluctuations are annoying. If there aren't also price decreases when a currency gets strong again then we end up with more quickly rising prices.

the alternative is for there to be no inventory in the uk. Its a license to print money for sharp arbitrageurs

UK Price increase imminent

Rather than a price rise how about showing UK citizenship to purchase to curb the Rolex tourists? (Controversial:))

Obviously never going to happen in a free market as the ADs don't care who they sell to as long as you buy enough.

Sorry Steve you've been given duff information son, price rises are always 1st month so can't be Tuesday/Wednesday. Anyway my mate's mate's cousin has been told categorically there will be no price rise this month or next. Nor the one after that or the next one

Off topic but I went to Wigan once to a mate's house for Sunday lunch. He cooked roast pork. Being a Wigan man I'm sure you'd know him - Dean Bell. Gone back home now. Lovely fella

Pity you can't but any Daytona's, Subs, GMT's etc in the UK otherwise it would be a fun time to shop!!!!!!!
It was a free for all last summer after the Pound plunged on the vote, and then once UK was cleared out, Rolex didn't fancy resupplying the UK at reduced profits when translated back into CHF, so they raised prices 10% last year but still didn't fancy the lower profits and high opportunity cost of supplying the UK over the EU or USA so they passed on supplying us again, and now after over a year of no/low supply we are in the surreal world of asking for a price rise to convince Rolex it is profitable to supply us once more, and that most sales will not be just to speculators.

I didn't want to say as when a Wigan Guy gets into a Rolex hospitality tent at the Open, anything can happen!

Haha that truly is bizarre. You've hit nail on the head. When I go to the AD in Turkey on holiday they always price things up against the Euro as they say they have to pay in advance from Rolex in Euros. Perhaps the UK was different but will now have to purchase in Euros as well?

Very true, the only currency Rolex wants right now outside of the Franc is the USD. Most others haven't held up too well against the CHF. I think Rolex was thinking the GBP would recover and didn't want to suffer translations in the meanwhile, but the longer this goes it's looking more like this is a structural shift in FX vs cyclical.

Slight brand tangent here but I've just been into an AD who stocks Rolex and Patek who didn't mention the Rolex increase (I didn't ask) but did say all Patek prices are going up 5.5% from 1st Sept if anyone has an incoming due.

I have heard no talk of an increase outside watch fora.

I am not expecting one at the moment, but may of course be wrong.

My understanding is that no price rise is imminent and that it would be something for Q4 or Q1'18

No. It's happening after this weekend, Rolex have coincided it with the school kids breaking up for summer holiday. The local head mistress told me in the VIP tent at the school fete.

After going through all the stages of grief, I finally accepted that Rolex and PP can do whatever they want regarding prices and supplies and we'll still all be lining up

Definitely a man in the know. If a price rise= more UK stock then it would be a good thing, time will tell.

Last price increase was about October/November time last year as I bought a DSSD Blue just before the prices went up and a Daytona C just after

I was told by the sales rep in Watches of Switzerland Regent Street, on Thursday, that a price rise was imminent.

He's just trying to sell you a watch. There are also rumours Panerai will be raising prices on the 1st of August by at least 5%. This has been from multiple ADs so i suspect the Rolex increase is simply a result of these rumors. One brand = all brands.

Probably true but they don't have any of the models people want to sell us anyway! :)

My circumstances mean that I would be more than happy to wait for a watch than pay an extra £500-1000 for it. I don't have the cash to throw at it like that.

It's the same thing really. Either front end or back end. If Rolex UK have to buy first from Geneva then their cost is 15-20% higher now and is eating into pretty much all the margin an AD makes, so either Rolex are offering them a discounted cost price, which means less profit for them, or UK Rolex and their ADs are declining to buy many new Rolexes as there is no profit to be made. Either way the currency fall means there is very low supply.

The 10% price rise last year meant AD's margins were improved so I feel they would want the stock, thus I think it is Rolex Geneva that are more reluctant to supply until prices and profits are more equal around the world.

So if I fly over to UK and the 116610LVc is US 9450 I could get it for about 7270 UK pounds ?? If it's available?

Current UK list price for 116610LV is £6600. But I've not seen one @ an AD since about April 2016
