AP ROO Warranty/Service
I'm sending in my AP ROO (~1.5 years old and under warranty) for warranty work as it is not holding power reserve and stops running within a few minutes. I decided to work directly with Clearwater instead of going through my AD and have received their shipping kit. With the kit came paperwork for identifying the issue and any work requests. Should I ask for the maintenance service and water resistance service when I send in my watch?

Do not ask for a maintenance service. They will look over the entire movement as they address your mechanical issue anyways.

they will service the movement, give it a pressure test and extend the warranty 2 years. Usually takes about 4-6 weeks.

Got it! Thanks everyone!
Regarding the warranty extension, I assume it's a whichever comes first situation so it negates my original 3 yrs of which I have 1.5 yrs left and I get 2 yrs from when the watch is returned? It wouldn't happen to be 2 years additional to the existing 3 yrs would it? =D |

I don't think they will extend the warranty. I thought they only extend the warranty when you pay for service?

2 years from when the service took place for a total of almost 4 years for mine since they were coming up on 2 years when I sent them in. They also included the leather travel cases but hear they don't include those for warranty work now.

They will extend if in issue found within the movement. They extended mine when my 26401 went in for a similar issue

One more question, I assume with their shipping kit, there hasn't been any issues and it's insured? Wanted to check because the box for the watch does not seem to be extremely sturdy and it's being shipped in just a FedEx padded envelop, not double boxed.

I sent my previous 26470OR with the AP kit and had no problem, I decided to go thru the AD this time with the issues on my new 26401 and it upsets me I get no updates.

No need to be worried about the shipping with their kit. I did it for my recent service and no issues.
I also heard they no longer give the travel case, but I got one when my watch came back from APSC last week.

Why would they extend the warranty when you pay for servicing the watch? I highly doubt it.

Actually just pulled out my service receipt from APSC in Clearwater and the watch service is guaranteed for 2 years from service date.

2 years warranty from date of service is correct.

im assuming though with a 3 year warranty via registering on the website and if an issue happens within 4 months of ownership the warranty would still be the original 3 year vs 2 years from date of service as the original one would be longer 2 years vs 2 years 8 months? |

i have that issue now so just trying to figure out the expectation. When i pick up my RG ill clarify, but i would not be happy with what would in effect be a shorter warranty.

If those are the exact words were used on the invoice, that could be a bit tricky? They guarantee the entire watch for another 2 years or the service that was performed on the watch? I'm going to pull my invoice and see what it says too..

I interpret it as APSC guaranteeing the work performed on the watch and not the watch itself. I could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me. I guess we should read the customer service terms and conditions too? Maybe that'll help clarify.
Would sure love to hear from some attorney's on here and get their take.

Ugh, of course FedEx has to taint my first experience with Clearwater. The priority overnight package is delayed and not delivering till the second day.

Both my service papers say what Kens say. The last page has the terms and conditions. Here is the part that pertains to the service:

Thanks Mike. It sounds like the warranty covers the service and the components worked on or replaced during the service. Am I reading too much into this?

I think reading too much into it... Besides, don't they service the whole movement? If so, then the whole watch would be covered... right?

Has anyone had this somewhat common power reserve failure reoccur?
As in, sent it in to be fixed, then it broke again?

Nope the only really issues I've heard about and experiences was with rebanking. The watch would gain 15+ seconds a day when I was active but would run spot on when not being worn. Think it only affected G and early H series. I had 2 fixed by APSC and haven't had any issues since. Think the main spring was too strong or something like that.
