Decades of Indecisiveness!
Hello Everyone!
I'm getting ready to make my first Rolex purchase. ....as the title implies however, I've actually been torn between two (albeit three) subs. When I was a little kid, the first watch I had ever fallen in love with was a TT Bluesy. As I grew older I went through your typical stages of horological puberty (i.e. Scorning Rolex owners and vying for APs and Pateks before finally actually LEARNING about watches) and now I'm aiming for the 116610. For some odd reason though I'm still torn as to which sub I'm truly after. If I were to get an 116613, I'd probably scour the used market as New is a bit far out of my price range. If I went with the 116610, I'd probably go through an AD for the 'first experience' per se. As weird as this all sounds, I guess I'm really torn because whichever I choose will be my one and only watch for a very long time. I greatly enjoy snorkeling and exploring the outdoors as much as I delve into new restaurants and wineries, so the subC I end up with will be my everyday piece. I'm not worried about negative attention or anything, just that I truly can't decide between the TT Bluesy and the classy black on stainless. Hopefully by regularly studying things here in RF I'll be able to make a decision, and who knows-- maybe I'll end up with the means to get either one from an AD. Thanks for reading! :) |

I agree with Mario.
Go for the TT Bluesy. You need to know about the early flat blue dials vs the later sunburst blue ones. Note this only applies to the Ceramic subs as the ealrier 16613 has sunburst only. There's no right or wrong with the dials. It's just personal taste but you mentioned buying used and you will find there are cheaper flat blue SubCs than sunburst ones. |

I just tried on a Bluesy at the AD. Although I did try to compare the other models evenly as far as wrist time, the Bluesy definitely held my attention the most. Thank you (о´∀`о) |

Welcome to TRF. My first Rolex is a TT Sub bought new in 1986 and loved to this day....
In your deliberations you should remember that you'll get a much bigger discount on a TT than an SS.

Welcome. Both the TT and the SS are winners and classic watches. I have owned both and would buy the Submariner-C ND, 114060. Great watch, perfectly balanced dial and the least expensive in the Submariner line-up.
