OP 39 Rhodium would work nicely. Buy gently used and have a grand left over.

OP39 plus Everest gator.
I think that's a great daily, but mine is about to get listed in the next few days.
Home projects dictate that I have to downsize.

I think this, but don't buy new. Buy second hand. I don't know the seller so do your homework. But here it is at half of retail...(edit:just noticed this ones quartz, not sure it'll effect things. Does me for a little bit...)

Used JLC or Omega, preference towards vintage 60's era, best bang for the buck IMHO Not advocating making a purchase frome-bay but for an example, this is available right now for under 3K on that site

I'm not a fan of any Cartier watch.

It's not a traditional dress watch but the new DJ41 would make for a wonderful "suit" watch. The price is a little bit past budget, but the smooth bezel version preowned might be feasible.
It was designed for polo players what is the reason you don't get it?

Everyone suggesting options on bracelet, those are 'sporty dress' sure.....but not true dress watches if you're wanting a two watch collection alongside a Sea Dweller. Highly suggest a leather strap when paired with the SD.

I'd suggest Nomos Orion Weiß....and you have the other half of your budget for a nice vacation. Pure class.

The new JLC date with the sector dial is pretty sweet. I think retail is $5,700 and I'm sure you could get close to $5k with a discount.

Agree the Tank is a good dress watch... can't go wrong with that one IMO.
