Which cars reflect mostly the essence of Rolex watches? That is timeless, reliable, balanced and so on...
Does the Submariner reflects the 911 or is it the Daytona? Which car is comparable with the Datejust?

I find it a bit silly to match specific models to Rolex watches. I'd agree Porsche reflects similar traits to Rolex.

I saw a chrono24 article that compared them to Porsche. Luxury, well built, good heritage, but perfectly useable as a daily.

Never compared a watch to a car. Maybe a few Bond had or perhaps Maxwell Smart. You know when they hit that magical button all of a sudden boom!

Growing up, my friends dad's that had Rolexes always seemed to drive Mercedes. So I relate the two brands closely in quality, durability, customer type.

they are all machines , they will all fail , sooner or later , usually at a really inopportune moment ,, always have a back up plan as a bail out ,,,,

watches and cars run in a very similar fashion. But again we all have favourites , things we wished we had kept , and things we look at in an envious way too.
But as far as comparisons go , its like comparing apples to orangutans.

I think Honda and Seiko would be a better match than Honda and Rolex. I'd put Rolex with Acura MAYBE.

I haven't really thought about this comparison before but for fun I'd say the air-cooled 911. That car until ~1997 was like an in-house movement.

IMHO --- In no way is a rolex a 'honda'.

Hondas are everyday, attainable (inexpensive), over produced, bear little to no emotional attachment, make 'perfect' sense (get you point A to point B), don't have much 'collectibility', lose value with each mile put ON, and pretty much disposed of when its time is up...

The closest car match to a Rolex would undeniably be a Porsche 911 - no matter which version it is.

I've owned several - and have made money on EACH one.

They are reliable like a Rolex - with a few quirks known to each generation.

Like a Rolex - they do not make total (any?) sense to own (overpriced based on 'paper' stats). There are much better 'tools' for the job (getting you from point A to point B) - but doing it in a porsche adds something way more special between that man/machine connection and the 'no substitute' feeling you get when you drive one.

They (porsches) require saving and planning to get yourself in one (much like a rolex) - BUT attainable after several years or so of hard work and planning. Rolex and a 911 are both very desirable on the 2nd hand market and easy to trade / sell ...

Not showy or overly pretentious in any way - but will always be recognized by distinct cues from MILES away. Shape/body virtually unchanged in 40+ years --

The list for me keeps going on the similarities - but car for car vs watch for watch I dont think there is a better comparison out there of a Rolex and a 911.

Rolex is an everyday, attainable purchase as well. They aren’t out of reach for most people.

Also, who the hell isn’t emotionally attached to their Honda?!? I love my Accord, that things a trooper.

Compared to the wider high end watch world that is them. Nothing wrong with that either.

I'd say Mercedes Benz. Both are respected but common European luxury brands that produce more than a million units per year

Porsche is more niche and sells far fewer cars than Rolex sells watches

i know plenty of regular people who own a Rolex. I know no one who owns a Porsche. Of course they are expensive though, but they are attainable to far more people than a Porsche. My grandfather use to have one and he drove a minivan.

A porsche 911 is literally the same as the median house price in the town where i grew up. On a related note there are two Rolex AD's in the state where i am from and no porsche dealerships for probably 500 to 1000 miles.

agreed. porsche production has ramped up a lot, but at under 250K cars per year they are still much less common than Rolex
