Rolex Explorer I 214270 lume

I just got a Explorer I 214270.

I wanted to ask if the lume color should be like this picture? I think it is green while in the pictures I found on the internet lume is more blue.

Should i be worried about?

You're good. You'll need to compare it side by side with an older green lume dial to really see the difference.

That's the lume on the 214270 MK1. I have the same model, lume looks the same.

The MK2 version appears to have the blue lume you're referring to.

Thank you very much. Everything else seems to be fine in the watch, only this lume color bothered me. The watch was bought in 2013 by the first owner, so it's most likely Mk1.

Not most likely an MK1 - DEFINITELY an MK1.

MK1's don't have lumed 3, 6 & 9's, they were in white gold.

Also, you said the watch was bought in 2013. The MK2 came out i 2016 with lumed 3, 6 & 9.

So there ya go - it's a 2013 MK1 Explorer.

Enjoy - I believe this version is superior to the 2016 version, and in 10, 15, 20 years, the MK1 version will be the highly sought after model due to it's 5 year run. The MK2 will likely run longer than 5 years so the MK1 becomes more rare.

Hold onto that one.

I own the same watch. Lume color is definitely more teal than green. Enjoy!

Future Collectors Item

I just bought a WG version pre owned and I love it, the WG classes it up big time. Personally the newer MK2 lumed 369 version doesn’t do much for me. The shorter hands are an non issue to me either. Anytime you have a Rolex on a short production run and many view was a mistake asin the case of the mk 1 due to the WG and the shorter hands means price increase. But I think it will take at least another 12 to 15 years for that to happen. Wear it in good health.
