My First Rollie:)
Here is a pic of my first Rolex watch! Now I am not sure if it is casual, sports, dress, etc. My camera died at work this afternoon so I didn't get anything with a flash. This shot was the better of the two I took. |

Please do not post fakes.
Edit by Padi. Please enlighten us,perhaps because you have not seen that particular dial configuration.Does not necessarily warrant calling it a fake.Rolex have many different diamond dials, not in brochure, or on Rolex web site, but that one is. |

I never said your watch was a fake. Enjoy in good health, Thurnau. Post some closeups when you get the chance. That is indeed an interesting watch. To answer your original pondering, it would be considered a dress watch.

This one doesnt have diamonds, the few DJs that I have seen in person with Diamonds and Jubilee dial (ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX dial) has the datejust written elsewhere. Which made me wonder if they were aftermarket dials (real watches though) since Rolex loves to write essays on their COSC wacthes (or as Rolex likes to write SCOC) |

Rolex Watches - Datejust Mens Steel and Yellow Gold Jubilee - Style No: 116203chjdj
Rolex Watches - Datejust Mens Steel and Yellow Gold Jubilee Style No: 116203chjdj Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Watches. 36mm stainless steel case, 18K yellow gold domed bezel, champagne jubilee dial, diamond hour markers, and stainless steel and 18K yellow gold Jubilee bracelet. List Price: $8,775.00 Save 14%: - ($1,225.00) Our Price: $7,550.00 (Wire Price: $7,324.00) then they say: Authorized Dealer: While we are not an authorized or direct dealer for Rolex, all of our watches come DIRECTLY from authorized Rolex dealers and respected industry wholesalers. They come complete with all boxes, instruction manuals, serial numbers, and dealer stamped warranty paperwork (whenever possible or applicable). It's GRAY MARKET dealer he has no ties what so ever to Rolex and can put what ever dial he wishes in the watches he sells. You ask is it fake well, it is all real except the dial, and when you were to send it to your Rolex Service Center to have it serviced you would get one of 2 things; Your watch back telling you that your watch is a fake or you will be notified that they have with-held the watch due to the quality of the fake. You then will have to have it serviced by your GRAY MARKET dealer and on and on and on. Bottom line I'd venture the dial is after market while the rest of the watch is real Rolex. Is it worth the sum they are selling them for to me, no. I personally will not buy a New Rolex at New Rolex prices with a after market dial of which if I wanted to sell it later on but, could not due to the dial....... Just something to think about. ------------------------- edited 0850 05/16/06 -------------------------- so sorry about my post here but, I am man enough to stand up and say I was wrong. Didn't do my background on that dial again, sorry. |

Well the same fake gold dial is on Rolex.com official website. :) Man, are we supposed to be rolex enthusiasts? Or has been rolex counterfeit conspiracy theorists? j/k but really the same dial is on the rolex.com website. It uses a flash media player so there is not direct link to the webpage.
http://www.rolex.com/en/ go here, the click collections, then oyster perpetual, then datejust, image #4/21. Thank you for being kind Prince. Quote:

BTW, the watch more closely resembling yours, I believe, is #17/21, pictured below from the Rolex Website. This watch is 36mm, whereas the one you mentioned in your post above is 31mm, or what is known as the "mid-sized" Gent's watch. Yours is probably the full-sized 36mm Datejust.

Yes my watch looks exactly like that one. I have a oyster band,, and that is a jubilee band. I am new to Rolex. I have had a facination with Rolex sonce I saw weekend at bernies as a child. I was just finding something similar to mine online. The new face is hard to find online. Also it doesn't look like a halogram, but more like a smooth surface with rolex rolex engraved into it with patterns. It looks really cool with a 10x loupe. It looks huge next to my movado watch.

Actually, the dial pattern is very much like the green hologram sticker on the back of the watch. Take a closer look at yours (if you haven't already removed it), or one listed on eBay.

After going through this entire thread, I am a bit confused now. I think we need to see some good close-ups of that DJ PLUS the warranty sheet with the serial number for authentication.
I hope it's a real one....it sure does look like one from the pics. Congrats, Thurnau....wear it in good health. Cheers - JJ

If bought new from an AD, nothing to worry about.
The pic is small, but it looks good to me. I think it is a sharp looking Rolex! |

Well, damn. If nobody had dug up that shot from the Rolex website, I would have thought that the dial was a fake too - I've come to expect all of the lettering on the dial, and having it just say "Datejust" is going to get a bit of getting used to.

So basically it's real but with an aftermarket dial? doesn't that basically make it non authentic now?
