The WG Daytona on OF is awesome it's my favourite Daytona and it wears a tad bigger than the SS, now they need to offer it on a WG bracelet.

WG all the way. beautiful timepiece and I am confident you will be able to find it soon at a fair discount to MSRP. WG Daytonas never keep their value.

I would suggest getting one from AD at a discount off the MSRP (if possible). The greater difficulty is getting stock from an AD. |

I echo this - somehow this wg tona on rubber is joining the 500 in difficulty to actually purchase. I’ve been waiting far too long |

Answers in here are all correct.
WG OysterFlex is awesome, SS will hold value much much better. |

I'm probably in the minority, but I wouldn't. For same money I would get a 509 with the WG bracelet, a much better value. Just buy a rubber B for $200.

A lot of talk about holding value etc.
But as a theme, TRF agrees that Rolex watches are not for investment purposes. What watch do you like better? Can you justify the additional cost? Depending on how you bought the 500, you will absolutely make some money on that. So the cost is clearly offset to some degree. I flip a lot. I have lost a small fortune. But I enjoy the hobby and the process (mostly). The big question I have is not about money or value, but about which watch you want more. Do you prefer the WG version? If so, absolutely get it. If not, do not get it. I liked the 500 very much. I still do. I had the black dial. I flipped it. I wanted to keep it when I got it, but it was not the watch I was ultimately looking for. The WG version just might be. To me, I am not concerned about losing money on the moves I have made. I am thinking only about enjoying the watch I wear. I am thinking about finding the perfect watch. And I genuinely think I might have.

Really? Price here is actually a little under retail now as the Pound just had a bump following Brexit negotiations advancing a little. The WG seems particularly a fave for a PM Daytona so I imagine AD discounts will be mimimal for a while and none if there are waiting lists. One reason why I went for the 5164 now which has a similar set up.

Neil - you of all people know PM > SS. Lol the 5164 is a beauty but I’m a Daytona man and it fits me just right. Unfortunately I ordered this around May and my AD doesn’t think it will be here till next year. He has yet to get a single Daytona on OF. I understand the ss shortages but am quite surprised these PM daytonas are even slow to deliver Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The WG oysterflex daytona is a beautiful watch !
One of my favorite. There was one available by Takuya @ $24525 mint, which I considered purchasing... But just couldn’t pull the trigger since I don’t know the durability/longevity of the oysterflex. I read somewhere the rubber edges of the strap may be the weak link. How much is it to replace one? Still...I would prob buy the mint WG Daytona ($24k) over the steel Daytona selling at premium of $18-19000

My decision making matrix was fairly straightforward:
1) I was after a panda dial - some will disagree but in my view, I don't think the 116500LN really counts as a panda dial 2) Bracelets are great, but too much of a scratch magnet (compared to leather and OF). And I'm not much of a fan of PCLs, so that rules out the 116509. 3) I wanted something that I could swim with. Conclusion: 116519LN on OF! |

It's hard to choose one but I like white gold oysterflex model better in dial wise yet I like bracelet over rubbers in general.
However, acquiring a stainless steel Daytona 116500 LN 001 is harder yet it's easier to sell it may be even on profit.

For as much as I love the WG Daytona I just can’t get into rubber straps on PM watches. I love how it looks, just not on me I guess. I do like the RG Daytona on leather though. So that being said I’d keep the 500. But mainly because of the oysterflex

The WG is a beautiful piece. Im not a fan of rubbers. I wonder if they will drop a bracelet version. I still prefer the SS for its scarcity call it hype or not just something about a SS Daytona.
